Special meeting of the County Board held at,the office of the County Clerxk
July 919%1913.
Board called to seder by Chairman T. H. Robinson at 10 oAclock A. M.
At roll call the following members were found present; K. A. Morris, L. F.
Davis, 0. Flanders, Frank Robillard, Donald C. Bell, Pat Galligan, Wm. Daly,
Geo. S. Barnas, W. H. Flieth, Martin Rogan, Peter Soronen, F. H. Bartlett,
Geo. Curry, M. Be Morris, A. G. Johnson, Ben Holm, Jacob Yderstad, C. H. Werden.,
F. L. Carlson, J. Pyykola, Hans Peterson, W. H. Nettleton, Jos. Feldmeier,

Upon motion, the reading of the minutes of the last meeting was dispensed
with.
The following resolution. was presented;
WHEREAS it appears that this County Board did, on the 24th day of June, 1913,
pass a resolution whereby it determined to abandon that part of the County high-
way system from Bayfield, north through Red Cliff and Westerly to the intersecteo
ion of the Washburn and Cornucopia road, and
WHEREAS it appears upon further consideration, that the said highway, or the
major portion thereof, is andindi.spensable part of the County highway system,
and ought riot to be abandoned,_
NOW THEREFORE, Be it Resolved, That application be.made to the State Highway
Commission to change and alter the said highway by abandoning that portion of
sai.d county highway system as follows:
Beginning at the intersection of the east and west quarter line of Section
12-50-4 West with said highway; thence north through Red Cliff, and westerly
to the center of Section 27-51-4 west; and by adopting and making a part of
said county highway system, a highway laid out and established as a highway by
the town of Bayfield as follows, to -wit:
Beginning at the intersection of the east and west quarter line of Section
12, Township 50 North, Range 4 west, with the said County highway; thence
running at right angles with the center line of said county highway, at said
place, in a northwesterly direction 1045 feet, more or less, to intersect
with the north and south quarter line of said section 12 at a point 398 feet
north of the center line of said section 12;'from thence running north of

changed, the said county highway system be continued and maintained as heretofore

Upon motion Board adjourned until 1 o'clock P. 14.
Board met pursuant to adjournment with all members of the morning session
present.
Moved and seconded that Resolution #1, reestablishing the road -from Bayfield
north, be laid on the table. Motion lost 'by the following vote:

Special Session; July, 9th,1913.
The Bill of Max Happle, sheriff, amounting to $42.00 being for expense of
bailiffs in circuit court, was presented and was upon motion allowed.
Moved and seconded -that a transcript pf the proceedings of this Board be sub-
mitted to the State Highway Commission.
The fol.owing resolution was presented :
RESOLVED by the County Board of Hayfield County that the Committee on Roads
abd Bridges be instructed to proceed to build a steel and concrete bridge across
Sioux River on the section line between sections 26 and 35 in township 49 nortli-
of range five west, and that said committee be instructed to proceed at once
unless the estimate of the cost is higher than they consider advisable to spend
and in case that it is too high they are authorized to construct a steel and
concrete bridge at or near the present location of the bridge.

Mov-ed and seconded that the foregoing resolution be referred to the Town o-f
Washburn, the said Town to subscribe at least $3000.00 toward the bridge, motion
lost.
Moved and seconded that- a recess of- ten minutes be taken, motion carried.
Mr. Bogenrief withdrew resolution providing for the construction of a bridge
over Sioux River.
Moved and seconded that the matter of constructing a bridge over Sioux River
on the Four Mile Creek Road be referred to the Committee on Roads and Bridges
and the State Engineer, they to secure estimates of cost of bridge over both
routes and to report to this Board at a later meeting?
The, Committee was directed to secure ather competent engineers to furnish
plans and specifications, if for any reason the State Engineer, cannot do the
work.
The Committee was further directed to repair the present bridge at a cost
not to exceed $700,00. Motion carried.

recommend that the following bills be allowed, and that the County Clerk be
