had requested that each county make an audit of drug bills for specific months with
the pharmacist named as the county liaison pharmacist by the State Pharmaceutical
Association, the result of this survey to be used as a basis for drug charges, the
State Department setting three schedules, one of which is to be put in force by the
county.
A recent audit of the drug bills by one of the local pharmacists and the Director
showed that the drug costs in-Bayfield County on the average were much greater than
Schedule I of the state schedule. However, two of the three drug stores were
charging prices between Schedule II and Schedule III. The joint committees are
recommending to the Bayfield County Board of Supervisors that Schedule III of the
three schedules submitted by the State Department of Public Welfare be applicable
to drug prices in Bayfield County. This should result in considerable savings to
the county in purchasing drugs.
Pertaining to drug costs in particular, one notes from the attached figures
that while the drug costs did increase between November 1958 and January 1960,
the percentage of drug costs to the total picture decreased from 13.32 per cent in
Tovember and December of 1958 and January of 1959 to 11 per cent of the total medical
:osts in November and December of 1960 and January of 1961.
The following figures show the comparative expenditures for medical costs for
;he year 1958, 1959 and 1960 and the cost for comparative months of December,
Tanuary and February.

County Clerk

Dear Mr. Trammell:
When we discussed the White River purchase proposal you requested further
information prior to the County Board rendering a decision on the plan. We have now
discussed the matter further and can provide the following plan:
The state wishes to purchase two tracts on the White River at this time if we
are able to negotiate them. The Delta Brook property is the primary interest and
the important holding. The other is a part of the land now owned by Joe Sajdah,
excepting the buildings and the westerly part of the tract.
If we succeed in purchasing Delta Brook property,,it will be used as a
combination research station and Public Fishing Grounds. Several men would be
permanently assigned there to maintain the property and carry on the research. Most
of the buildings could be utilized and the timber would be carefully managed. These
two prospective purchases would involve about $50,000 of assessed valuation.
4b believe that this acquistion will result in a major tourist attraction and
will bring additional business into the county. It will also assure the preservation
of the area for the future. We hope that the County Board will not see fit to
oppose this proposal.
