Fifth Street, PO Box 878, Washburn, WI 54891 DRAFT Minutes of the: Bayfield County 2020 CENSUS Redistricting Advisory Committee August 23rd, 2021 12:00 p.m. Meeting Held in the Bayfield County Board Room, Courthouse, Washburn, WI & Remotely BAYFIELD COUNTY 2020 CENSUS REDISTRICTING ADVISORY COMMITTEE Dennis M. Pocernich, Chair, Lynn M. Divine, County Clerk, Scott Galetka, Land Information Officer, Mark Abeles-Allison, County Administrator John Carlson, Corporation Counsel The meeting of the Bayfield County 2020 Census Redistricting Advisory Committee was called to order at 12:01 p.m. by Chairman Pocernich. Members Present: Dennis Pocernich, Lynn Divine, Scott Galetka, Mark Abeles-Allison, John Carlson Others Present: Fred Strand-Board Supervisor, Marty Milanowski-Board Supervisor, Jeremy Oswald- Board Supervisor, Paige Terry-Clerk III 3. Approval of the minutes, August 18, 2021: Motion by Abeles-Allison, seconded by Galetka to approve the Minutes of the August 18, 2021 Redistricting Committee Meeting. Motion Carried. 4. Discussion and Possible Action on Updated Redistricting Options to be available to the public prior to the public hearing: Galetka reviewed multiple new drafts of options 4 and 6, which were presented at the previous meeting. Discussion took place regarding the various options. The committee agreed to move forward with options 4B, 4C, and 6A with all option keeping the Village of Mason in the same district as the Town of Mason. Abeles-Allison asked if multiple mapping options should be presented at the public hearing. Chairman Pocernich stated that multiple options should be made available for the public along with other board supervisors to view and offer their input. The committee discussed district boundary options for the City of Washburn that could keep Washington Avenue as the boundary line within the city. The committee agree that a new map option should be drafted that keeps Washington Avenue as the district boundary line within the City of Washburn. Motion by Abeles-Allison, seconded by Divine to forward mapping options 4B, 4C, 6A, and an additional map to be constructed by Galetka that would maintain the Washington Avenue district boundary line in the City of Washburn and maintain the District 8 boundary lines consistently with option 6A to the public hearing to be held on September 21, 2021.
