HomeMy WebLinkAboutAd Hoc Business Park Planning Committee - Minutes - 3/7/2018 (3)Minutes of the Bayfield County Ad-Hoc Business Park Planning Committee Meeting 1:30pm, Wednesday, March 7, 2018 Business Park, Town of Eileen, Bayfield County Call to Order: ChairmanSandstrom called the meeting to order at 1:30 pm. Members Participating: Scottie Sandstrom-present; Mark Abeles-Allison-present; Leo Carlson- present; Preston Mikula-present; Brett Rondeau-present; Mike BeBeau-absent. Others Attending: Larry Roecker, Tony Johanik, Casey Aronson, Adam Kaseno. Public Comment: Casey Aronson, Business Agent, Operating Engineers, spoke about the business park road project. Minutes of December 6, 2017. A motion was made by Rondeau/Mikula to adopt the December 6, 2017 Business Park Committee Minutes. The motion carried. Discussion and Possible Action Regarding Business Intake Form Reviews: Casey Aronson, VP, Operating Engineers, represent heavy equipment operators. He noted that not all contractors treated the bonding the same, with some front loading in to the base bid and others spreading over the project. He also stressed the need for storm retention for even a portion of the project. Motion was made by Rondeau/Sandstrom to proceed with the base bid, a portion of alternate A to the KV Tech property and the Spur Road accessing the Coop and Greg Martinsen property. The motion carried (4-0). Discussion and Possible Action Regarding Road Fund Applications. Sandstrom reviewed Business Park Information Sheets from two prospective businesses. One business was interested in lots 1, 2 or 9. This is a construction /excavating business. Some outdoor storage, trucks and trailers. The Committee felt that lot 9 may be the best for this business. The second business information was reviewed. This business is looking at lot 2 and will create 15 new jobs. The Committee discussed zoning of the parcels and potential need to rezone one or more parcels to industrial. Business Park Marketing Update. Sandstrom inquired about new marketing techniques. He discussed sharing the marketing map with local business. He discussed working with Ady Associates on marketing. Several board members expressed willingness to place brouchures in their businesses. Reports. None.
