Minutes of the:
Bayfield County Ad-Hoc Business Park Planning Committee
Wednesday January 9th, 2019 – 2:00 p.m.
Bayfield County Business Park, Ashland, WI
1) Call to Order;
The Bayfield County Ad Hoc Business Park Planning County was called to order at 2:04 p.m. A roll call
was taken by Mark Abeles-Allison, as follows, present: Cole Rabska from BCEDC, County
Administrator-Mark Abeles-Allison, Vice-Chair Leo Carlson, Preston Mikula, Marty Milanowski.
Absent: Mike BeBeau. Total: 5 present, 1 absent. A quorum was present to conduct business.
Also present: Larry Roecker from Bayfield Electric, Clerk III–Allison Radke.
2) Public Comment; No public comment was received.
3) Election of Officers;
A motion was made by Mikula, Carlson to nominate Cole Rabska as Chair of the Business Park
Planning Committee. Motion carried.
Cole Rabska was unanimously nominated and elected as the new Chair of the Business Park Planning
Committee.
4) Minutes from December 5th, 2018;
A motion was made by Milanowski, Abeles-Allison to adopt the minutes of the December 5th, 2018
Bayfield County Ad-Hoc Business Park meeting. No edits or corrections. Motion carried.
5) Marketing Efforts:
a) Discussion and Possible Action Regarding Business Park Signage
A permit will be required according to Zoning Director Schierman. Abeles-Allison will help to
coordinate acquiring the permit. Rabska gave information about sizing requirements for the sign.
b) Discussion and Possible Action Regarding QR Code Marketing Campaign:

Chair Rabska discussed the idea of using QR Codes. Abeles-Allison said he would contact the
National Forest Service. A question was received regarding tracking the locations of QR Code
usages.
6) 2019 Business Park Activity Report
a) Construction;
A specific plan for constructing a new building at the Bayfield County Business Park was shared.

b) Utilities;
There was discussion regarding the 3-Phase-Electric from Bayfield Electric Cooperative.
7) Update on new business opportunities:
Other potential businesses were mentioned. (Solar business)
There was the idea of finding businesses that could collaborate and refer to one another within the
business park. Committee members brainstormed regarding the types of businesses that are successful
in the region and how to recruit any of these businesses. Health care and construction businesses were
discussed. Comments were received regarding Deltco Plastics, World Class Manufacturing, becoming a
shipping station, etc.
8) Other Reports; None received.
9) Updates from members; None received.
10) Adjournment.
The next meeting for the Committee will be: Wednesday March 13th, 2019 at 1:30 p.m. at the
Bayfield County Business Park.
There being no further business to come before the Bayfield County Ad-Hoc Business Park Planning
Committee, the meeting was adjourned at 2:43 p.m.
A motion was made by Carlson, Milanowski to adjourn the Bayfield County Business Park meeting.
Motion carried.
