Minutes of the:
Bayfield County Ad-Hoc Business Park Planning Committee
Wednesday March 13th, 2019 – 1:30 p.m.
Bayfield County Business Park, Ashland, WI
1. Call to Order;
The Bayfield County Ad Hoc Business Park Planning County was called to order at 1:35 p.m.
A roll call was taken by Chair Cole Rabska, as follows, present: Cole Rabska from BCEDC, County
Administrator-Mark Abeles-Allison, Preston Mikula, Marty Milanowski. Absent: Mike BeBeau,
Vice-Chair Leo Carlson. Total: 4 present, 2 absent. A quorum was present to conduct business.
Also present: Larry Roecker from Bayfield Electric, Clerk III–Allison Radke.
2. Public Comment; No public comment was received.
3. Minutes from January 9, 2019;
A motion was made by Abeles-Allison, Milanowski to adopt the minutes of the January 9th, 2019
Bayfield County Ad-Hoc Business Park meeting. No edits or corrections. Motion carried.
4. Marketing Efforts:
a. Discussion and Possible Action Regarding Business Park Signage;
A sign application was submitted to the Bayfield County Planning and Zoning
Department. The specifications of the sign and sizing were discussed. Bayfield County
will be able to finance the sign as an advertising expense.
A motion was made by Milanowski, Mikula to proceed with the sign application as
shown with 48 feet off State Farm and 74 feet off Highway 137 from the center lines.
Motion carried.
b. QR Code proposal received from APEX, Brian Hanson and associates;
A proposal was shared from Giant Voices for aluminum signage options and QR code
set-up and google analytics training. It was suggested to test QR codes first using
www.the-qrcode-generator.com. Another idea was to create a short video. The Giant
Voices proposal will be tabled for now, upon further review.

5. 2019 Business Park Activity Report:
a. Construction;
KVTech is planning on starting foundation work in June 2019, depending on permits and
finances.
b. Utilities;
Xcel Energy is interested in completing the 3-phase power. www.pacewi.org was
mentioned as a resource for construction projects.
6. Recruitment Strategy and Updates on business calls/follow-up;
Multiple businesses were discussed as potential opportunities. Comments were received from
committee members about permitting costs, grants, electricity discounts, 10-year leases, putting
together a package, building a speculative building, and more.
Other updates included: Luke Schraufnagel will continue to cut hay in the field. There is a
continued discussion regarding offering space for World Class. Chair Rabska to follow-up.
Roecker noted a possible plastics manufacturing company he was in contact with.
7. Other Reports; None received.
8. Updates from members; None received.
9. Adjournment.
The next meeting for the Committee will be: Wednesday April 10th, 2019 at 1:30 p.m. at the
Bayfield County Business Park.
There being no further business to come before the Bayfield County Ad-Hoc Business Park Planning
Committee, the meeting was adjourned at 2:43 p.m.
A motion was made by Mikula, Milanowski to adjourn the Bayfield County Business Park
meeting. Motion carried.

The Business Park meeting was rescheduled. It will be held May 8th, 2019 at 1:30 p.m.
