Minutes of the:
Bayfield County Ad-Hoc Business Park Planning Committee
Wednesday June 12, 2019 – 1:30 p.m.
Bayfield County Business Park, Ashland, WI
1. Call to Order;
The Bayfield County Ad Hoc Business Park Planning County was called to order at 1:32 p.m.
A roll call was taken by Chair Cole Rabska, as follows, present: Cole Rabska from BCEDC,
County Administrator-Mark Abeles-Allison, Preston Mikula, Mike BeBeau. Absent: Vice-Chair
Leo Carlson, Marty Milanowski. Total: 4 present, 2 absent. A quorum was present to conduct
business.
Also present: Larry Roecker from Bayfield Electric; Clerk III–Allison Radke.
2. Public Comment;
Possible Bayfield County Business Park listing through Dairyland Power.
3. Minutes from May 8, 2019;
A motion was made by Abeles-Allison, Mikula to adopt the minutes of the May 8th, 2019
Bayfield County Ad-Hoc Business Park meeting. No edits or corrections. Motion carried.
4. Discussion and Possible Action regarding Business Park Sign;
The permit has been acquired. Digger’s Hotline will be contacted. The posts will be set next
week or so. The sign is limited to 20 feet, according to the permit. There was discussion
regarding sign logistics. The sign order will be established by a first come, first served was the
consensus. Chair Rabska will email the current businesses regarding the interest in being a part
of the sign.
5. Discussion and Possible Action regarding:
a) Marketing efforts, including press articles;
Abeles-Allison wrote a press release for the newspaper, regarding the new sign. A possible
pick-up event for Bayfield Foods’ CSA was discussed. Barricading the road was suggested.
That way people will see all parts of the Business Park. An idea was to post “Lots Available”

signs throughout. On the Business Park sign, the committee would like to have a banner also
saying: “Lots Available.”
b) Financing option contracts;
Chair Rabska met with Seth Hudson from the Cedar Corporation. They discussed a building
proposal. A building might be a motivator for some businesses to move in. Businesses Parks
sometimes design sample buildings.
c) Road-naming ceremony;
The road was named by the Town of Eileen after a local community member, Ester
Argenbright.
d) Ribbon cutting planning;
A ground-breaking was discussed for KV Tech. Building plans were updated. It was decided
to keep ceremonies separate to increase media presence.
e) Social media campaign;
County Administrator posts pictures frequently on the Bayfield County page. Committee
members recommended editing, shortening, and posting the drone video. More pictures and
videos were suggested. Filming video testimonies from current business were advised.
6. Updates/Ideas regarding Businesses to Contact and Recruitment;
The Solar Energy business (NES) was mentioned as a potential business. It was reported that the
“Rainbow Family Gathering” is taking place in Bayfield County. July 4th is their large event.
Xcel Energy’s Solar Garden is under construction now and will be finished approximately the
end of July.
7. Updates from members; None received.
8. Adjournment.
The next meeting for the Business Park Committee will be: Wednesday July 10, 2019 at 1:30
p.m. at the Bayfield County Business Park.
There being no further business to come before the Bayfield County Ad-Hoc Business Park
Planning Committee, the meeting was adjourned at 2:35 p.m.
A motion was made by BeBeau, Mikula to adjourn the Bayfield County Business Park
meeting. Motion carried.
