Animal Control Fees: We have received a request from the animal shelter to consider an increased contribution to help support animal control. Last year we expensed $18,753. Of this about $390 a month or $4670 went directly to the shelter. The City of Ashland pays about $750 a month, Bad River pays $400. It is important to have a local shelter to take animals to. The current shelter works very hard for both counties and does a good job of holding down costs. They are in the process of forming a non-profit corporation. Support for these activities comes mainly from taxes. Over the past several years we have levied between $8500 and $11,100, the rest comes from dog license fees. I imagine that an increase of $200 a month would increase taxes to around $15,000. 6. Discussion and Possible Action Regarding Resolutions Received from Other Counties: a. Resolution from Vernon County supporting a legislation change regarding Medicare Payment Inequities Between States. 7. Discussion and Possible Action Regarding Tourism Budget Amendments: 8. Discussion and Possible Action Regarding Sign Permit Application for Triangle Parking Lot: We are planning a simple sign on the corner of Washington and 6th street, by the triangle parking. We will have a graphic at the meeting for a review. 9. Reports and Any other topics of discussion as presented by the committee members: a.
