Members in Attendance: John Blahnik, Harold Maki, David Good , Brett Rondeau
Members Excused: Neil Paulson
Others Present: Kathryn Prenn, Thomas Gordon, Mark Abeles-Allison, Kris Kavajecz
Blahnik welcomed and introduced Kathryn Prenn, labor attorney with Weld, Riley, Prenn &
Ricci.
Motion by Rondeau, Second by Good to approve the minutes of the March 20, 2003 meeting.
Motion Carried.
Motion by Maki, Second by Rondeau to enter Executive Session pursuant to WI Statute 19.85(1)
(c,e, f) for the purpose of conferring with legal counsel and discussing negotiation strategy for
collective bargaining unit contracts as well as discussing the performance evaluation and
associated disciplinary action regarding various employees. Roll Call Vote: All Yes Motion
Carried.
Motion by Good, Second by Rondeau to return to open session. Roll Call Vote. All Yes, Motion
Carried.
New Employee Update:
Abeles-Allison reported that Jody Compton has been hired as a casual cook in the Sheriff’s
Department, Rachael Krivinchuk is not a Bayfield County Employee, but is the new secretary for
the LCC office; Ann Holly has been hired in the LCC office to fill one of the grant positions;
CCO interviews are currently being conducted.
Reclassification Process Discussion:
Abeles-Allison reported the 20 reclassification requests have been submitted. The requests are
presently being reviewed by the respective oversight committees. The Personnel Committee with
review and take action on these requests in June and July.
Personnel Manual Update Review:
This topic will be discussed at a future meeting.
Employee of the Year Presentations:
Resolutions will be presented to the County Board at their May 27th meeting to recognize two
employees as employees of the year from their respective work groups. In addition, resolutions
will be presented recognizing four employees for achieving 20 years of employment with the
county. These employees will be recognized at the County Picnic on June 4th or 5th.
Motion by Rondeau, Second by Maki to adjourn. Motion Carried. Meeting adjourned at 1:30pm.
