Minutes of the
Bayfield County Personnel Committee
July 7, 2005 4:00 pm
Bayfield County Board Room
Washburn, WI
Members Present: David Good, Neil Paulson, Brett Rondeau, John Blahnik
Members Excused: Dee Kittleson
Others Present: Mark Abeles-Allison, Kris Kavajecz, Chief Deputy- Paul Susienka, Jail
Administrator-Larry Weber
Meeting was called to order at 4:00pm by Chairman Blahnik
Motion by Brett Rondeau , second by David Good to approve the minutes of the June 2, 2005
meeting with two corrections identified by Good. Motion Carried
Motion by Neil Paulson , Second by David Good to enter Executive Session pursuant to
Wisconsin Statutes §19.85(1)(c,e) to discuss employee performance, employment and bargaining
issues.
Roll Call Vote: All-yes, Motion Carried.
Chief Deputy Paul Susienka, Jail Administrator Larry Weber, Kristine Kavajecz, and County
Administrator Mark Abeles-Allison were invited to remain in the closed session.
Motion by Paulson , second by Good to return to open session. Roll Cal Vote: All-yes Motion
Carried.
Discussion & Possible Action regarding year-end performance summaries for the Group
Health Trust: There was no discussion on this topic at this time.
Staffing Update: The county is currently advertising for a Limited Term Employment Public
Health Nurse to cover for a maternity leave. There is a Social Worker vacancy due to the
resignation of Mary Jean O’Bey. A Resource Management Specialist applicant has been offered
employment. The Shoreland Restoration Specialist may be contracted through Gemini
Employee Leasing rather than hiring an employee. Cheryl Hamm has accepted the 70% Public
Health Nurse Position. Clerk I/Receptionist interviews have been completed, reference checks
are being conducted.
Review of Exit Interview Feedback: This topic will be discussed at a later meeting.
John Blahnik reported that he will have a comparison from GHT on Experience and Insurance
Rates in the near future.
Motion by Rondeau , second by Paulson to Adjourn. Motion carried. Meeting adjourned at
5:35pm.
