Motion Carried. Meeting was called to order at 10:07am by acting Chairman Paulson. Motion Regarding Minutes of the December 16, 2005 Personnel Committee Meeting: Motion by Kittleson, second by Good to approve the minutes of the December 16, 2005 Personnel Committee meeting as presented. Motion Carried. The committee reviewed the proposal for uniform allowance that was discussed at the Dec 16 meeting. WPPA will be taking the proposal to their members for vote on Jan 4, 2006. The purpose of this meeting is to have a formal vote on this proposal because there was not a quorum present at the end of the Dec 16 meeting. Abeles-Allison distributed a summary of information that was given to the WPPA leadership, which gives an example of the purchasing power that would be gained by moving to the quartermaster system. Paulson emphasized that a specific uniform needs to be identified and one or two suppliers be contracted to supply the uniforms. Items that are considered as uniform must be specifically identified. Motion by Good, second by Kittleson to approve the proposal that was discussed at the December 16 meeting. Paulson abstained from the vote. Motion Carried. The committee discussed a request for extended unpaid leave of absence for a Jail employee. The committee was also updated on an upcoming Circuit Court Appeal of the Teamsters Unit Clarification case. Motion by Kittleson, second by Good to approve a 30-day leave of absence for Mike Peterson to run consecutive with the current leave. Motion Carried. The committee briefly discussed potential negotiation strategies for the next union contract negotiations with all 3 unions in 2006. The next meeting is scheduled for February 2 at 9:00am.
