HomeMy WebLinkAboutPersonnel Committee - Minutes - 2/13/2014Minutes of the Bayfield County Personnel Committee Meeting 2:30 PM, February 13, 2014 Emergency Operations Center, Bayfield County Annex Building, Washburn, WI Members Present: Brett Rondeau, John Bennett, Shawn Miller, Neil Schultz, William Bussey Members Excused: None Others Present: County Administrator Mark Abeles-Allison, Kristine Kavajecz-Assistant, Kenneth Jardine, Jason Bodine-Forest Administrator, Ben Dufford-County Conservationist, Dennis Pocernich Rondeau called the meeting to order at 2:30pm. Motion Miller, Schultz to approve minutes of the January 2, 2014 Personnel Committee meeting. Motion Carried. 2014 Wage Policy: a. Recently Hired Employee Wages. Proposal is to use a co-worker max as the market wage for recently hired employees(hired prior to January 1, 2014). These employees would progress to the higher wage based on the 85, 90, 95, 100% wage levels. There are approximately 16 employees impacted. Recommendation of the committee is to move these employees to 100% of the co-worker wage over 2 years. Motion Bussey, Miller to approve increases for recently hired employees (hired prior to January 1, 2014) to equal their co-worker wage after 2 years of employment. Motion Carried. b. Recently Promoted Employee Wages: Jail Sergeants and WIC Nutritionist Motion Bussey, Bennett to approve max for Jail Sergeant at the same as current Social Worker I (.82 more per hour) and max for WIC Nutritionist at the same as the current Assistant Forest Administrator. Discussion followed. Motion Carried (4-1) c. Reclassification Wages: Recommendation from the County Administrator is to approve a 2% increase for employees that are reclassified to a higher position, but existing wage is higher than the reclassified position wage on the new wage schedule. d. Job Reclassifications: Motion Bussey, Bennett to postpone this item to the next meeting. Motion Carried. Health Insurance: e. 2013 utilization: Review of the Security Health Plan CORE Report, which summarized health insurance utilization in 2013. 74% utilization rate. f. Direction for 2015: A list of Options to consider for adjustments were briefly reviewed and will be discussed in more detail at a future meeting and as discussions continue L:\COMMITTEES AND BOARDS\PERSONNEL COMMITTEE\2014\Personnel Committee Minutes 2014-02- 13.doc Page 2 of 2 throughout 2014.
