Bayfield County Library Board
July 19, 2005 – 1:00 p.m., Bayfield Library
PRESENT: Dee Kittleson, Chair; Roberta Menger; Linda Stobbe; Carol Eder; Darrell Pendergrass;
Connie Cogger; Lee Gehrke; Suzanne Widmar; Henry Lamkin; Karlan Williams; Richard Compton;
Betty Braunstein; Mark Abeles-Allison.
A motion was made by Carol Eder/Lee Gehrke to approve the Library Board Minutes of May 24,
2005. The motion carried.
Linda Stobbe of Northern Waters indicated their request for the budget is the same as lat year,
$35,000.00.
Introductions were made and a welcome to Darrell Pendergrass, Washburn Librarian.
LIBRARY UPDATES:
Roberta Menger, Bayfield Library, stated this is the busy time of the year.
Betty Braunstein, Iron River, also states very busy with 100 children signed up for the summer
reading programs. They have a teen web club newspaper and they have produced a paper.
Karlan Williams, Cable, indicates this is her first full summer and she is working on statistics for a
joint library.
Suzanne Widmar, Drummond, the children’s programs are started, their numbers are up and down.
On July 29th there will be an adult evening program. Now have a “Friends of the Library” group.
Darrell Pendergrass, Washburn, reported he just started July 1st. Summer programs have begun; met
with Pete Mann regarding budget and the scheduled meetings at the library. Trying to keep track of
who uses the library for meetings. July 29th, the time capsule will be set in at 1:00 p.m.
OTHER BUSINESS:
Mark Abeles-Allison, Bayfield County Administrator, discussed the district compensation request and
the County budget.
Lee Gehrke, Drummond, distributed library statistic information.
A motion was made to adjourn by Karlan Williams/Lee Gehrke. The motion carried.
