HomeMy WebLinkAboutAging & Disability Advisory Committee - Minutes - 9/26/2011 1 BAYFIELD COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF HUMAN SERVICES AGING AND DISABILITY SERVICES ADVISORY COMMITTEE Courthouse Conference Room B September 26, 2011 3:00 p.m. Committee Members Present: Richard Compton, Verne Gilles, Clarence Henkel, Sue Sederholm Committee Members Absent: Rich Elliker, Brigette Gokee (Excused), Martha Oie (Excused) Staff Present: Carrie Linder, Jane Cook Call to Order and Introductions Linder called the meeting to order at 3:12 p.m. Introductions were made. Selection of Chairman and Vice-Chairman Motion made by Gilles to nominate Henkel as Chairman. Seconded by Compton, motion carried. Motion made by Compton to nominate Gilles as Vice-Chairman. Seconded by Sederholm, motion carried. Approval of July 25, 2011 Minutes Motion made by Gilles to approve the July 25, 2011 minutes. Seconded by Compton, motion carried. 2012 Aging Plan and Budget Amendment Linder distributed the 2012 budget for the Aging Programs. The budget was recently approved at the Human Services Board Meeting. A brief discussion was held on the services that are purchased. Motion made by Compton to approve the 2012 Budget Amendment presented. Seconded by Gilles, motion carried. COP Exceptional Expenditures-Tabled COP Exceptional Expenditures were tabled. Medicare Part D Review Linder discussed an article sent to the local newspapers regarding the Annual Open Enrollment Period for Medicate Part D. Open enrollment begins October 15, 2011 and runs through December 7, 2011. Providing information to nutrition program participants and via the county website, CORE, and an informational table at the Bayfield Apple Festival Pie Social to be held on Thursday, October 6, 2011, was discussed. Nutrition Program Update(s) A. Nutrition Contract Process for 2012 Linder indicated that the department has the ability to authorize contracts up to three years and has requested to continue to contract with current providers in 2012. Linder provided 2 committee with information on the congregate and home delivered meal site locations. Usage by meal site location will be reviewed at the next meeting. ADRC Update(s) A. Status of Red Cliff Tribal Aging staff Sarah Quale, Red Cliff Tribal ADR Specialist has resigned her position. Brigette Gokee recently sent an e-mail indicating that she will be leaving her position within the next month. B. Status of hiring a second Disability Benefit Specialist The current DBS, Jamie Mackin, serves five counties and 3 tribes. The ADRC Governing Board has approved the hiring of a second Disability Benefit Specialist. Sawyer County DHHS will serve as the employer and the new DBS will be located there. The goal is to have this position filled by January 1, 2012. Informational Items A. The Annual Caregiver Conference will be held at the AmericInn, Ashland on Friday October 21, 2011. Linder distributed brochures. Review Future Meeting Date(s) for 2011 Future meeting dates: November 28, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. Adjournment Motion made by Gilles to adjourn at 4:03 p.m. Seconded by Sederholm, motion carried.
