AGING AND DISABILITY SERVICES ADVISORY COMMITTEE

Call to Order and Introductions
Henkel called the meeting to order at 3:01 p.m. Introductions were made.
Adoption of Agenda
Motion made by Gilles to adopt the agenda as presented. Seconded by Compton, motion carried.
Adoption of the November 28, 2011 Minutes
Motion made by Gilles to approve the November 28, 2011 minutes. Seconded by Compton, motion
carried.
Consideration for Approval - Committee Member Appointment-Kenneth (Bucky) Jardine
Linder reminded committee members that the County Administrator asked for County Board
representation on the advisory committee. Because the south shore area was not represented,
Bucky Jardine was invited to become a member of the committee.
Motion made by Compton to recommend Jardine to the A & D Services Advisory Committee.
Seconded by Giles, motion carried.
DuPont Center Project Presentation – Don Ekstrom, Washburn Heritage Association
Don Ekstrom representing the Washburn Heritage Association gave a short presentation on the
history of the Washburn Civic Center (DuPont Center) and the steps taken to halt the demolition of
the building. A buyer has almost completed the rehabilitation of the property. The Washburn
Heritage Association is looking into taking over the building again and run it as a community center
with the plans to utilize it for recreational programs, senior programs, community events, etc. The
purpose of the presentation was to educate the committee members about the ongoing plans for the
building. At some point the Washburn Heritage Association will be seeking funding sources to help
with these goals.
Sederholm arrived at 3:14 p.m.
Consideration for Approval – Elder Abuse Direct Services Application 2012
Linder distributed the 2012 Elder Abuse Direct Services Funds Application, and Performance
Expectations for 2012 Elder Abuse Allocation for Bayfield County. Discussion followed. The 2012
total allocation is $9,900, which is the same amount as 2011. Linder explained to members that

performance measures are a requirement and are included in the application. Performance
measures include an ongoing operation of the existing Elder Abuse I-Team and continued timely and
accurate data entry of elder abuse investigations into WITTS (the electronic state reporting system).
Motion made by Jardine to approve the 2012 Elder Abuse Direct Services Application. Seconded by
Gilles, motion carried.
This will be forwarded to the DHS board as a recommendation for their approval
Consideration for Approval – Alzheimer’s Family Caregiver Support Program Application 2012
Linder distributed the Alzheimer’s Family Caregiver Support Program (AFCSP) Budget Report for
2012 for review and approval. The 2012 allocation is $5,367 which has been increased slightly from
$5,121 in 2011.
Motion made by Jardine to approve the AFCSP 2012 Budget Report. Seconded by Oiet, motion
carried.
This will be forwarded to the DHS board as a recommendation for their approval.
Consideration for Approval – 2012 COP Plan Update
Linder distributed the 2012 COP Plan Update for review and approval. Linder noted that the plan is
partially completed. The Case Management rate in Part 2 has not been completed. Discussion and
review followed.
Motion made by Sederholm to approve the 2012 COP Plan Update. Seconded by Compton, motion
carried.
This will be forwarded to the DHS board as a recommendation for their approval.
Nutrition Program Updates
A. Review of Program Donations for 2011
Linder distributed a 2011 Elderly Nutrition Program Data worksheet. Discussion followed.
Questions raised and answered.
B. County Allocation for Elderly Nutrition Program
Linder indicated that she will be doing more outreach for the home delivered meals.
ADRC Updates
A. Waiting List Update – Very small for Bayfield County. Four people waiting. We have managed
to keep pace on the attrition slots.
B. Family Care Enrollment Cap-Status report – Discussion followed.
