AGING AND DISABILITY SERVICES ADVISORY COMMITTEE

Call to Order and Introductions
Carver called the meeting to order at 3:05 p.m. No introductions required.
Review of the January 19, 2015 Minutes
Motion by Compton to approve the minutes, second by Oie, Motion carried.
Public Comment – Limited to 3 minutes per person
None
Consideration for Approval – Amend Trust Fund Expenditures for 85.21 Grant
Linder presented an amendment to the Trust Fund Expenditures for the s.85.21 DOT Grant to include
$7,000 match for an AmeriCorp volunteer. Position has a start date in September; this is a one year
position hired through Marshfield Clinic and BCDHS will act as the site supervisor. Discussion
followed on Iron River Transit Van, survey of Veteran’s needs and the lift equipped vehicle.
Jardine arrived at 3:18 p.m.
Motion by Crandall to approve the Amendment to the Trust Fund Expenditures, second by Schell,
Motion carried.
Consideration for Approval – Review of the 2016-2018 Aging Plan Development
Linder reviewed the required focus areas for the 3-year plan and laid out a plan for obtaining
feedback from committee members and the community at large. The draft will be reviewed at the
September 21 2015 ADAC meeting. Linder asked members to identify a civic, business, etc. that we
can reach out to and obtain feedback.
Linder reviewed a power point presentation on the State of Aging in Bayfield County. This
presentation was presented to the County Board to assist with providing aging trends, statistics that
may be helpful for budget planning purposes. Information was obtained from the WIDHS state
demographer and included data from the U.S. Census American Community Survey, 2013, among
other resources.
Nutrition Program Updates
The annual regional training for ENP staff will be held on September 25, 2015 in Hayward.
Working on a pilot program to purchase Tetzner’s milk for the home delivered meal participants
except in the Cable and Red Cliff areas. It will entail bulk milk in ½ gallon bag every two weeks.
Initial and ongoing feedback from participants will be elicited to ensure this will be effective for
everyone. Savings could be $2000-3000 annually.

ADRC Updates
Language in Governor’s included potential significant impact on Family Care and ADRC operations.
Advocates are requesting the governor remove much of the language from budget due to negative
impacts upon those who need the services.
Advocacy Updates
A lot of advocacy is taking place across the state surrounding the 2016-2017 budget.
Other (Informational Items)
Oie provided a “show & tell” on Memory Loss items that North Country Independent Living (NCIL)
uses to assist clients who are looking to purchase said items for their needs.
Carver shared the upcoming Memory Loss Workshop-Helping Loving Ones & Clients to be held in
Bayfield that is scheduled for Wednesday, June 3, 2015.
