AGING AND DISABILITY SERVICES ADVISORY COMMITTEE

Call to Order and Introductions
Carver called the meeting to order at 3:04 p.m. No introductions required.
Review of the January 19, 2015 Minutes
Motion by Jardine to approve the minutes, second by Compton, Motion carried.

Maintain Your Brain: Dementia Risk Reduction – Screen a Video
After overcoming technical difficulties, the committee viewed a portion of the Video titled “Maintain
Your Brain: Dementia Risk Reduction & Life after Diagnosis” with Teepa Snow, Occupational
Therapist. Information was presented about risk factors that may affect your brain health.
2014 Bayfield County Aging Unit Self-Assessment-(Informational Purposes Only)
Linder reviewed the letter from Pam VanKampen, GWAAR on the feedback received for the 2014
Aging Self-Assessment that was submitted to the Greater Wisconsin Agency on Aging Resources,
Inc. The self-assessment is reviewed to determine the progress of the planned outcomes and the
agency’s compliance with the Wisconsin Elders Act.
Aging Plan Updates
Staff will be holding sessions throughout the county to seek feedback on what our communities want
most from their Aging and Disability Resource Center. “State of Aging in Bayfield County” sessions
have been set up in Barnes-July 21, Iron River-August 13, Benoit-August 19, Bayfield Located TBD)-
August 25 and Washburn-August 26. Linder noted that she had sent an article to the Bottom Line.
A survey was distributed to the committee members present. Linder asked that they fill it out and
submit back to her prior to the next scheduled ADAC meeting on September 21st.
Nutrition Program Updates
Linder briefly reviewed 2015 Senior Dining survey results. Congregate meals were mostly favorable
with some concerns noted. Linder noted that she shared the comments with the provider that was
involved. Additionally, she will work with another provider to determine what future menu changes
can be made to address additional comments. Feedback from the South Shore Meal Site indicated
they would like different tables and chairs instead of the fixed seating that the students use. Linder
reviewed the 2015 Satisfaction Survey Results for HDM. Majority of feedback was very favorable.
Bayfield County is currently serving two vegetarian Home Delivered Meals from the Chartwells
provider.

Linder reviewed information from the 2014 Annual Report which included an overview of the service
units and costs associated.
ADRC Updates
Linder reviewed ADRC service units for 2014. A brief question and answer period took place. Linder
passed out the ADRC-N Staff Dementia Support Tool Notebook that is used as a tool to assist staff
address all areas of the ADRC-N efforts regarding persons with memory concerns, dementia, their
care partners and the community at large.

Advocacy Updates
The Governor’s budget for 2016-2017 recently passed. Senior Care will continue as is with no
changes. Information on other changes made is pending.
Other (Informational Items)
55+ Senior Expo to be held on August 19, 2015 from 12:00-6:00 at the Bretting Center-Civic Center.
The 3rd Annual North Country Independent Living Expo is scheduled to be held on July 23, 2015 from
11:00-4:00 at the Mariner Mall in Superior.
