HomeMy WebLinkAboutAging & Disability Advisory Committee - Minutes - 3/20/2017 1 BAYFIELD COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF HUMAN SERVICES AGING AND DISABILITY SERVICES ADVISORY COMMITTEE Courthouse Conference Room A March 20, 2017 4:00 p.m. Committee Members Present: Richard Compton, Grace Livingston, Martha Oie, Jeremy Oswald, Betty Schell Committee Members Excused: Patricia Carver, Kathryn Grafsgaard, Kenneth Jardine Committee Member Absent: None Staff Present: Carrie Linder, Jane Cook Call to Order and Introductions Compton called the meeting to order at 4:00 p.m. and introductions were made. Review of the January 16, 2017 Minutes Motion by Oswald to approve the minutes, second by Schell. Motion carried. Discussion and Possible Action regarding Aging Unit Self-Assessment for 2016 Linder reviewed the Aging Unit Self-Assessment for 2016. Discussions were had on information presented. Oswald presented an idea on partnering with AARP or Washburn Historical Civic Center Foundation. Schell noted that the Senior Center in Ashland has recently changed the dynamics of their site to multi-generational activities. Linder briefly reviewed the Aging-In-Place Remodeling Checklist created for use in the Zoning Department mentioned in the Self-Assessment Focus Area 6- A, Progress Notes. Also mentioned World Elder Abuse Awareness Day on Thursday, June 15, 2017 relating to Focus Area 6-F, Progress Notes. Motion by Oie to adopt Aging Unit Self-Assessment for 2016, second by Oswald. Motion carried. Review 2017 Goals and Objectives Linder reviewed 2017 goals and objectives. Nutrition Program Updates A. Examine findings from committee member congregate meal site reviews. Linder requested this item be tabled until the May 15, 2017 ADAC meeting. Awaiting further data from congregate meal site reviews. Motion made by Oie to table item until May 15, 2017 meeting, second by Schell. Motion carried. B. Standardized Meal Cost Tool for Nutrition Program. Brief discussion on meal cost information presented about nutrition program. Linder was presented with a suggestion to bring HDM donation statement to next meeting. ADRC Updates A. Addition of LGBT resources. Linder briefly discussed the LGBT Mental Health and Crisis Calls Resource information added to the ADRC recently added to the Resource Directory. 2 Advocacy Updates A. Dementia Care Specialist Program. Linder discussed the information from the Wisconsin Aging Advocacy Network focusing on the Dementia Care Specialist (DCS) Program. Funding for the DCS positions is scheduled to end December 31, 2017. The current 2017-2019 state budget does not fund the current positions beyond this date. A JFC Hearing has been scheduled for Tuesday, April 18, 2017. Other (Informational Items) A. Living Well Newsletter provided. Additional copies provided to Oie, Oswald and Livingston.
