Overview of Future Plan for the Historic Civic Center by Mary Nowakowski, President, Historic Civic Center Foundation Linder introduced Mary Nowakowski, President of the Historic Civic Center Foundation. Mary presented information about the historic civic center. The City of Washburn owned the building until 2010. The City Council had voted to demolish the building. Signatures were gathered to keep the building. Mary and her husband bought it to save the building. The building is 11,000 square feet and 100 years old. They applied for a $200,000 TIF funding to add handicap accessibility, building repairs and maintenance.
