HomeMy WebLinkAboutAging & Disability Advisory Committee - Minutes - 3/19/2018 1 BAYFIELD COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF HUMAN SERVICES AGING AND DISABILITY SERVICES ADVISORY COMMITTEE Courthouse Conference Room A March 19, 2018 4:00 p.m. Committee Members Present: Karen Anderson, Patricia Carver, Doug Defoe, Alan Filipczak, Suzanne Rooney, Betty Schell Committee Members Excused: Kathryn Grafsgaard, Jeremy Oswald Committee Member Absent: None Staff Present: Carrie Linder, Jane Cook Others Present: Cody Kamrowski, Northwest Regional Planning Commission Call to Order and Introductions Carver called the meeting to order at 4:00 p.m. and introductions were made. Presentation on 2019-2023 Transportation Plan Update by Cody Kamrowski, Community Development Planner, Northwest Regional Planning Commission Cody noted that he is out of the Spooner Office and provides planning for 10 counties. The transit plan is updated every 5 years. Information distributed at meeting covers Ashland, Bayfield and Price Counties and is from the plan that was developed 5 years ago. The plan needs to be reviewed and updated to reflect current transportation trends. The 2019-2023 Transportation Plan is due to WisDOT by October 15, 2018. Discussion and Possible Action-Review of the January 15, 2018 Minutes Motion by Schell to approve the minutes, second by Defoe. Motion carried. Discussion and Possible Action-Review of the 2017 Aging Unit Self-Assessment Linder reviewed the 2017 Aging Unit Self-Assessment. Brief question and answer. Motion by Anderson to approve the 2017 Aging Unit Self-Assessment, second by Schell. Motion carried. Review Corrective Action Plan for Elderly Nutrition Program Assessment Linder reviewed areas identified for improvement. The assessment fulfills the requirement for the 2016-2018 plan cycle period to assure state and federal policies and procedures for the Older Americans Act Nutrition Program. Motion by Schell to approve the Corrective Action Plan for the 2016-2018 Aging Unit Assessment for Elderly Nutrition Program, second by Defoe. Motion carried. Needs Assessment for 2019-2021 Aging Plan Linder asked committee members to fill out the assessment and return it. The assessment is being made available both in hard copy via the Elder Nutrition Program and the Living Well newsletter. It is also available electronically via the county website. Articles announcing the request for input have been published in the Bottom Line News; The Connection and will be coming out in The Vintage Times. 2 Nutrition Program Updates A. Review number of meals served in 4th Quarter of 2017. B. Review summary of meals 2017 versus 2016. ADRC Updates A. Dementia Care Program Plan for 2018 – Linder noted there is a work plan for every year. WIDHS has required ADRCs to adopt and implement two (2) evidence based programs. One for the caregiver and one for the care recipient. Powerful Tools for Caregivers and Music & Memory at nursing homes are the two programs that have been selected for implementation in the ADRC of the North. B. ADRC of the North goals for 2018 – Tabled till next meeting. Other (Informational Items) A. Caregiver Conference – Thursday, April 19, 2018 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at WITC-Ashland. Conference Fee is $29, ($9.17 for 62+). Refer to Page 7 of the Living Well Newsletter. B. Living Well Newsletter - Linder highlighted some areas of the newsletter.
