HomeMy WebLinkAboutAging & Disability Advisory Committee - Minutes - 9/16/2019 1 BAYFIELD COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF HUMAN SERVICES AGING AND DISABILITY SERVICES ADVISORY COMMITTEE Courthouse Conference Room B September 16, 2019 3:00 p.m. Committee Members Present: Karen Anderson, Lynette Benzschawel, Tom Gordon, Sam Ray, Suzanne Rooney, Betty Schell Committee Members Excused: None Committee Member Absent: None Staff Present: Carrie Linder, Jane Cook Call to Order and Introductions Gordon called the meeting to order at 3:02 p.m. and introductions were made. Discussion and Possible Action-Review of the July 22, 2019 Meeting Minutes Motion by Rooney to approve the July 22, 2019 Minutes, second by Schell. Motion carried. Discussion and Possible Action-New Committee Member-Martha Oie Linder presented citizen application for Martha Oie. Brief discussion. Motion by Gordon to refer Martha Oie citizen application to the HS Board with recommendation to accept by ADAC, second by Ray. Motion carried. The Long Path-Video and Discussion Committee members viewed short video shown recently at the State ADRC Director’s Meeting titled “The Long Path.” Brief discussion on power point handouts highlighting video. Annual Aging Program Plan Review Linder noted that she met with Jane Mahoney, Older Americans Act Consultant-Caregiver Support Specialist, GWAAR on the progress of 2019 goals for the 2019-2021 plan period. Reviewed goals with updates with committee members. Transportation Coordination Committee-Discussion and possible recommendation A Transportation Coordination Committee has been created through resolution by county board. Its purpose is to look at the transportation needs for the future. Carrie asked if anyone was interested in working with this committee to let her know. Medicare Part D Open Enrollment-Update Sheila Mack will be retiring October 1, 2019. Marianne Johnson has been hired to replace Sheila. She worked in the EBS position prior to Sheila. AARP tax aide volunteers will be trained to assist with the Part D Open Enrollment. The website portal for Medicare Part D has changed and the rules have changed so volunteer’s duties have changed and will include the collection of and entry of basic information and drug list from consumers. ADRC Updates Wisconsin DHS ORCD is willing to provide ADRC-N funding to remain financially solvent through 2019 and possibly 2020. Phone and database research is being carried out, expected to change. 2 Advocacy Updates A. City of Washburn Bayfield Street Project seeking public input. Any citizen can provide input for future planning sessions by clicking on the website. Linder provided an example as to how every citizen can provide a little feedback. Other (Informational Items) A.
