COMMITTEE MEETING
December 14, 2011

Call to Order: The meeting was called to order by Chairperson S. Miller at 6:00 P.M.
1. Approval of November 9, 2011 Meeting Minutes.
MOTION: (Jardine, Bichanich) to approve the November 9, 2011 meeting minutes. Carried.
2. Monthly Financial Report.
a. Forestry
J. Bodine predicts although December revenues are less than expected to date, the projection is for the
final number to be $400,000 over budget. Expenses are projected to be under budget for the year.
b. Parks
The adjusted parks revenues to date are just under $78,000. It was found that the transient camper
revenues were less than expected.
MOTION: (Bichanich, Bennett) to approve the Monthly Financial Report. Carried.
3. Recreational Use Request: Chequamegon Fat Tire Festival.
Request received from the Chequamegon Fat Tire Festival to use county trails for the 30th annual
Chequamegon Fat Tire Festival on September 14-16, 2012 in the Town of Cable.
MOTION: (Bichanich, Kacvinsky) to approve the request to use county trails for the Chequamegon Fat Tire
Festival on September 14-16, 2012 in the Town of Cable. Carried.
4. Recreational Use Request: North End Ski Club.
Request received from the North End Ski Club to use country trails for the North End Classic cross country
ski race on February 2, 2012 in the Town of Cable.
MOTION: (Kacvinsky, Bichanich) to approve the request to use county trails for the North End Classic cross
country ski race on February 2, 2012 in the Town of Cable. Carried.
5. Plum Creek Transaction.
The information was presented at the County Board meeting held on December 13, 2011. No action taken.

6. Timber Sale Re-Offer Approval.
Of two of the sales (Tract 02-11 and 28-11) that were not sold at the fall 2011 offering, Tract 28-11, which
is now Tract 56-11, had a price per cord reduction.
MOTION: (Bennett, Bichanich) to approve the re-offer of both sales with adjusted prices on Tract 56-11.
Carried.
7. Annual Forestry and Parks Department Work Plan.
J. Bodine discussed the highlights of the proposed 2012 Bayfield County Forestry and Parks Annual Work
Plan. The Plan will be presented at the January 2012 full County Board meeting for final approval.
MOTION: (Jardine, Bichanich) to approve the 2012 Bayfield County Forestry and Parks Annual Work Plan.
Carried.
8. Parks.
Twin Bear Projects
a. Electrical Update.
The project is going very well and on time. More work will be done in 2012.
b. Shoreline Grant Updates
There continue to be Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standard issues that have not been
resolved. Mark Abeles-Allison is the lead on this issue now.
9. General Discussion Items.
a. Sand River Pit Update.
J. Bodine reported that one-third of the pit is excavated with the volume removed being less than
expected.
b. General Department Updates.
Kirby Dernovsek, Forester, has given a verbal notice that he has accepted a Ranger position with the
Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources. He expects the start date to be January 3, 2012. Kirby has
been with the Department for 11 years.
c. Joseph LeBouton, DNR Representative, Comments.
The Barnes position has been filled.
10. Executive Session.
MOTION: (Kacvinsky, Bichanich) at 6:33 P.M. to move into Executive Session pursuant to Wisconsin Statutes
19.85(1)(e)(g) for the purpose of considering legal advice regarding strategy to be adopted by the body with
respect to litigation in which it is or is likely to become involved. Carried.
Adjourned in Executive Session at 6:45 P.M.
