COMMITTEE MEETING
January 13, 2014

1. Call To Order of Forestry and Parks Committee Meeting.
The meeting of the Forestry and Parks Committee was called to order by S. Miller at 5:30 P.M.
2. Approval of December 11, 2013 Meeting Minutes.
MOTION: (Bichanich, Bennett) to receive and place on file the December 11, 2013 meeting minutes.
Carried.
3. Public Comment.
S. Miller called for public comments. None were received.
4. Logger Comments.
S. Miller called for logger comments. None were received.
5. Monthly Financial Report.
A. Forestry: J. Bodine reported that revenues at year’s end are $3.9 million. Year’s end expenses are
under budget by approximately $150,000. The shared revenue checks (10% of total net revenue; based
on # of acres) to the Towns were mailed.
B. Parks: CY 2014 Seasonal deposits continue to come in. The Twin Bear campground parking lot is
being maintained by the Co. Highway Department for winter public access to the lake.
C. Trails: Trail activity is above normal due to the copious amounts of snow received to date. A local Iron
River area business owner has taken it upon himself to help maintain Trail #31. Iron River does not
have a snowmobile club. The reorganization of a club in Iron River is a top priority heading into 2014.
Local organizers hope to rebuild interest and support.
MOTION: (Bennett, Bichanich) to receive and place on file the December 2013 financial report. Carried.
6. Recreational Use Request: Chequamegon Fat Tire Festival.
J. Bodine has received a request from the Chequamegon Fat Tire Festival to use trails located in the Town
of Cable for the 32nd annual Chequamegon Fat Tire Festival mountain biking event from September 12 – 14,
2014.

MOTION: (Bichanich, Jardine) to approve the request from the Chequamegon Fat Tire Festival to use trails
located in the Town of Cable for 32nd annual Chequamegon Fat Tire Festival mountain biking event to be
held September 12 - 14, 2014. Carried.
7. Recreational Use Request: Mt. Borah Foundation LLC.
J. Bodine has received a request from the Mt. Borah Foundation to use trails located in the Town of Cable
for the Mt. Borah Epic mountain bike events. The event would take place between May 23 and June 3,
2014.
MOTION: (Bennett, Bichanich) to approve the request from the Mt. Borah Foundation to use trails located
in the Town of Cable for May 23 to June 3, 2014’s Epic mountain bike events. Carried.
8. Telemark Land Exchange.
J. Bodine referred to a draft potential land exchange map. J. Bodine and S. Miller are scheduled to meet
with the Louis group to work on an equal land swap plan to bring to the Committee.
9. General Discussion Items.
a. Forestry Garage.
The building permit is ready and a $1.00 check has been prepared for the $1.00 pto purchase of the
property for the new forestry building site from the city of Washburn. J. Bodine reported that
the window of the old shop was broken during a break in in December. The alleged perpetrator was
arrested and window replacement restitution cost has been submitted.
If the new building is not ready for April occupancy (month agreed upon with the new owner of the old
shop), arrangements have been made to either request an extension to stay in the old shop or move
equipment into temporary storage at the county highway department.
It’s is expected the DNR agreement, along with lump sum payment, will be completed soon.
10. Joseph LeBouton, DNR Representative.
Nothing at this time.
11. Supervisors’ Comments:
None.
