The Bayfield County Forestry and Parks Committee will meet on Monday, May 14th at 6:00 p.m. in the
County Board Room of the Courthouse in Washburn, Wisconsin. The agenda for this meeting is as
follows:
1. Call to Order.
2. Election of Forestry and Parks Committee Chairperson. Nominations, discussion and action
regarding this election.
3. Election of Forestry and Parks Committee Vice-Chairperson. Nominations, discussion and action
regarding this election.
4. Public Comment – Limited to 3 minutes per person.
5. Approval of the April 9th Meeting Minutes.
6. Spring Timber Sale Bid Opening. Discussion and action regarding the opening, recording and
preliminary awarding of the spring timber sales.
7. Bayfield Peninsula Energy Alternative (BPEA), Bob Adams, Spokesperson. Update on the
proposed Xcel Energy 2nd Circuit Transmission Line Project. Discussion regarding this update.
8. Xcel Energy, Ellen Heine. Update on the proposed Xcel Energy 2nd Circuit Transmission Line
Project. Discussion regarding this update.

9. Monthly Reports. Discussion of general activities, events, issues and accomplishments. Possible
action on report(s) only.
a) Forestry (all updates):
a. 2018 Budget.
b. Red Cliff Land Sale (80 acres).
c. Stewardship Grant.
d. Siskiwit River Preserve.
e. Wisconsin Habitat Partnership Fund Application.
f. Continuous Forest Inventory (CFI) Program.

10. Recreational Use Request. The Chequamegon 100. Discussion and possible action regarding a
request to utilize existing trails in the Town of Cable for the Chequamegon 100 mountain bike
race. The event would be held on June 16, 2018.
11. Recreational Use Request. Chequamegon Area Mountain Bike Association (CAMBA).
Discussion and possible action regarding a request to utilize existing trails in the Town of Cable
for the Longass Ride mountain bike event. The event would be held on July 14, 2018.
12. Access Permit Request. Matthew Stewart. Discussion and possible action regarding a request to
access property located in the Town of Iron River.
13. Access Permit Request. Jerry Marsland. Discussion and possible action regarding a request to
access property located in the Town of Iron River.
14. Access Permit Request. Dean Castle. Discussion and possible action regarding a request to
access property located in the Town of Oulu.
15. Wisconsin Counties Association Potential Resolutions. Discussion and possible action regarding
the development of resolutions that would be submitted to the Wisconsin Counties Association
for future consideration.
16. Strategic Plan Development. Discussion and possible action regarding the development of a mini
ten-year strategic plan for the Department.
17. Joseph LeBouton, DNR Representative, Comments.
18. Executive Session. The Committee may enter in and out of Executive Session pursuant to
Wisconsin Statute 19.85(1)(e), for the purposes of negotiating the purchasing of public properties,
the investing of public funds, or conducting other specified business, whenever competitive or
bargaining reasons require a closed session:
a. Approval of the October 9, 2017 Executive Session Minutes.
b. Easement Request. Jeff Pipgras. Discussion and possible action on a request for an
easement along a portion of shared boundary next to the Forestry and Parks Department
shop (lot) in the City of Washburn.
