The Bayfield County Forestry and Parks Committee will meet on Monday, November 8th at 6:00 p.m. in
the County Board Room of the Courthouse in Washburn, Wisconsin. This meeting will be held in-
person, but a remote participation option is available. The public will be able to participate in the meeting
in-person or remotely via voice either by using the internet link or phone number below. A maximum of
15 members of the public will be allowed in-person. Please contact the Forestry and Parks Department at
715-373-6114 if you have access questions prior to the meeting. During the meeting, please email
Lindley.mattson@bayfieldcounty.wi.gov if you are experiencing issues connecting remotely.

The agenda for this meeting is as follows:
1. Call to Order.
2. Public Comment – Limited to 3 minutes per person.
3. Approval of the October 11th Meeting Minutes.
4. Recreational Use Request and Agreement. The Cornucopia Trails Club. Discussion and possible
action regarding a request to create non-motorized recreational opportunities in the Towns of Bell
and Bayfield and establish a long-term recreational use agreement with the Cornucopia Trails
Club.
5. Resolution. Erika Lang, Conservation Manager, Landmark Conservancy. Discussion and
possible action regarding support of two Landmark Conservancy Knowles-Nelson Stewardship
land acquisition projects:
a. Telemark Preserve (Town of Cable).

b. Big Ravine 10 (Town of Bayfield).
6. Recreational Use Agreement. Iron River Chamber of Commerce. Discussion and possible action
regarding a long-term recreational use agreement with the Iron River Chamber of Commerce for
the management of non-motorized trails in the Iron River area.
7. Draft Management Plan. Mt. Ashwabay Special Management Area for Recreation. Discussion
and possible action regarding a preliminary draft management plan for the Mt. Ashwabay Special
Management Area for Recreation of the Bayfield County Forest.
8. Monthly Reports. Discussion of general activities, events, issues and accomplishments. Possible
action on the report(s) only.
a) Forestry (all updates):
a. 2021 Budget.
b. Carbon Project.
c. Mill Bill (update).
d. Resolution Thanking Sen. Bewley and Rep. Meyers.
e. Red Cliff Land Sale/CFL Withdrawal.
f. Burns/Duquette Trespass/CFL Withdrawal.

9. Fall Timber Sales. Discussion and action regarding the results of the 2021 fall timber sale bid
opening.
10. Sustainable Forestry Grant. Discussion and possible action regarding an application to the DNR
Sustainable Forestry Grant for the development of an invasive species inventory.
11. Recreational Use Request. Hayward Lions Club. Discussion and possible action regarding a
request to host the 40th annual Hayward Lions Club Pre-Birkie, in the Town of Cable, on
February 12, 2022.
12. Recreational Use Request. American Birkebeiner Ski Foundation. Discussion and possible
action regarding a request to host the following events (all in the Town of Cable):
a. Gitchi Gami Games, December 10-12, 2021;
b. Birkie Tour, January 15, 2022;
c. Seeley Hills Classic, January 29, 2022;
d. American Birkebeiner, Kortelopet and Prince Haakon, February 23-27, 2022;
e. Fat Bike Birkie, March 12, 2022;
f. Birkie Trail Run Festival, September 24, 2022;
g. Telemark Ascent, October 8, 2022.

13. Committee Members Discussion. Discussion regarding matters of the Forestry and Parks
Department.
