a. Resolution Regarding Healthy Brain Initiative - $2,000
Wisconsin’s Healthy Brain Initiative Project is a partnership effort between the Department
of Health Services, the Alzheimer’s Association of Southeastern Wisconsin, and AARP
Wisconsin to support the implementation of the Wisconsin Dementia Care System Redesign
Plan. An essential component of the project is the active engagement of local public health
agencies as primary partners in addressing dementia as a chronic disease within communities.
b. Resolution Regarding Adolescent Health Mini-Grant - $17,777 plus 75% match
The object of the Adolescent Health Mini-Grant is to form a coalition/partnership to promote
and advocate for comprehensive adolescent health education in the community and/or school
setting. To assess the level and degree of adolescent health education delivered in the school
setting. For the health department to lend support to the schools for disease prevention and
reproductive health education.
c. Resolution Regarding Chronic Disease Self-Management Program Grant - $4,404.37
Bayfield County Human Services Aging Unit and the Bayfield County Health Department
are to partner on the delivery of the chronic disease self-management education program
“Living Well” here in Bayfield County. The program will be aimed at seniors with chronic
diseases. Volunteer facilitators will be trained with the public health nurse coordinating.
8. Discussion and Possible Action Regarding Additional Recommendations to the Large Scale
Livestock Committee’s (LSLC) Report
The Bayfield County Board of Supervisors referred the report to the Bayfield County Health
Department and Bayfield County Board of Health for consideration of additional
recommendations to the LSLC report. Anne-Marie Coy will be doing a short presentation of the
existing well construction report map and the water quality search options that the DNR and
Stevens Point currently have available.
9. Grant Application Status
Ashland-Bayfield Counties have been awarded the Adolescent Health Grant
Our application for the Coastal Management Grant has been recommended for funding. The
recommendation will go before the WI Coastal Management Council at their February 18
meeting for vote.
10. Laboratory Update – New Features
We are now taking in public or private samples for nitrates, arsenic and lead instead of referring
to a separate lab. This way we will get the results and if there is a concern, we will be able to
better address it. We are also now certified to do surface water analysis for farms that wish to use
surface water for agricultural uses. Testing their water is a new requirement for them and they
have to have the samples into a lab within 6 hours.
11. Next Meeting Date:
12. Other Issues
13. Adjourn
Sincerely,
Anne-Marie Coy, RS
