Dear Health Board Members,
There is a Health Board meeting scheduled for Tuesday, February 14th, 2017 at 5:00 pm. in the
Bayfield County EOC located in the Bayfield County Annex Building, Washburn, WI. If you
are unable to attend this meeting, please call the Health Department and let me know.
Any person wishing to attend who, because of a disability, requires special accommodations,
should contact the Bayfield County Health Department office at 715-373-6109, at least 24 hours
before the scheduled meeting time, so appropriate arrangements can be made.

4. Review and Possible Action Regarding Citizen Member Appointment to the Board
of Health
Application received from Elaine Kopp for continued service on the Board of Health.
5. Human Health and Hazard Ordinance Update
The ordinance was passed by the County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday, October 18th,
2016.
6. Update on Health Department Staffing
Amanda Paulson, our part-time nurse, started on December 5th, 2016. We have hired a
part-time person, Jessica Zakovec, to work at the WIC Office. Jessica started on January
17th, 2017.
7. Discussion and Possible Action Regarding the Strategic Plan
Health Departments are required by the State to do a Strategic Plan every 5 years
outlining what areas the Health Department will be targeting in the next 5 years. Update
on the progress of developing the Strategic Plan.
8. Hydrogeological Atlas Update
Land Records Department taking the lead on the Hydrogeological Atlas Project with
support from Health Department and Land Conservation Department. Applied for
funding from the Wisconsin Coastal Management Program Grant for 2017-2018.
University of Wisconsin System to begin working on county-wide water table map and
database for Bayfield County in January and ending May 31st, 2017.
9. WIC Update
Recently at the state level, WIC has undergone many policy changes, specifically towards
cracking down on fraud and abuse. Locally, the Bay Area WIC Project has experienced a
recent string of new prenatal women enrolling, and nationally, WIC has unveiled their
new logo and has a planned outreach campaign for April.
10. Review and Possible Action Regarding Resolution to Secure State Funding to
Support Communicable Disease Control for Population Health
Resolution to support local funding for critical public health services. Wisconsin does not
have dedicated, stable funding for communicable disease control and prevention.
11. Discussion and Possible Action Regarding New Policy & Procedure
WIC Internal / External Referrals Policy
12. 2016 Environmental Health Inspections Completed
Overview of environmental health inspections for 2016.
13. Finalizing Well Water Testing and Billing
Review of DNR Transient Non-Community Well Contract for Washburn and Sawyer
Counties scheduled for Tuesday, March 7th, 2017.
14. Discussion and Possible Action Regarding Sharps Collection Program
Many community members and coalition members have mentioned the difficulty in
safely disposing of sharps containers.
15. Grant Updates
Updates on many of the Health Department grants and initiatives.
16. Next Meeting Date
Tuesday April 11th, 2017 at 5:00 pm in the EOC.
