Dear Health Board Members,
There is a Health Board meeting scheduled for Tuesday, June 20th, 2017 at 4:30 pm. in the
Bayfield County EOC located in the Bayfield County Annex Building, Washburn, WI. If you
are unable to attend this meeting, please call the Health Department and let me know.
Any person wishing to attend who, because of a disability, requires special accommodations,
should contact the Bayfield County Health Department office at 715-373-6109, at least 24 hours
before the scheduled meeting time, so appropriate arrangements can be made.

4. Update on Health Department Staffing
Kelsey Latimer has begun employment as WIC Director/Public Health Nutritionist. We
received an internship opportunity this summer through the National Environmental
Health Association (NEHA), filled by Jacob Kentnich, NEHA Intern. Amanda Paulson,
our part-time nurse, has resigned from her position effective mid-June. Amy Jarecki, has
filled the Office Manager and the Clerk I position has been filled by Teresa Foley.
5. Discussion and Possible Action Regarding Resolution to Accept Alcohol and Drug
Awareness Donation
The Bayfield County Health Department has received a donation from Marshfield Clinic
in the amount of $1,000 to assist in expenses incurred chairing alcohol and drug
awareness meetings and work in assisting local communities in obtaining drop off sites
for drug collection.
6. Discussion and Possible Action Regarding Resolution to Accept PHEP Ebola Grant
The Bayfield County Health Department has received a PHEP Ebola Grant in the amount
of $8,182 to assist in overall preparedness and response to Ebola and other infectious
diseases.
7. Update on Office Renovations and Other Improvements
Information on recent office changes within the Health Department.
8. Strategic Plan Update
Health Departments are required by the State to do a Strategic Plan every five years
outlining what areas the Health Department will be targeting in the next five years.
Update on the progress of the strategic plan and development of a work plan for the next
five years.
9. WIC Update
Recently at the state level, WIC has undergone many policy changes, specifically towards
cracking down on fraud and abuse. Locally, the Bay Area WIC Project has experienced a
recent string of new prenatal women enrolling, and nationally, WIC has unveiled their
new logo and has a planned outreach campaign for April.
10. Discussion and Possible Action Regarding New Policies & Procedures
Update on revision of existing health department policies and procedures and the
development of new policies and procedures.
11. Discussion and Possible Action Regarding Radon Information Center
Bayfield County is currently part of the regional Radon Information Center (RIC) based
out of Taylor County Health Department, which provides services to Ashland, Bayfield,
Iron, Lincoln, Price, Rusk and Taylor Counties. Discussion surrounding possible changes
to the regional structuring of the RIC serving Bayfield County.
12. Update Regarding Sharps Collection Program
Many community members and coalition members have mentioned the difficulty in
safely disposing of sharps containers.

Update on health department grant applications.
