Dear Health Board Members,
There is a Health Board meeting scheduled for Tuesday, August 8th, 2017 at 5:00 pm. in the
Bayfield County EOC located in the Bayfield County Annex Building, Washburn, WI. If you
are unable to attend this meeting, please call the Health Department and let me know.
Any person wishing to attend who, because of a disability, requires special accommodations, should
contact the Bayfield County Health Department office at 715-373-6109, at least 24 hours before the
scheduled meeting time, so appropriate arrangements can be made.

4. Update on Health Department Staffing
Jacob Kentnich, NEHA Intern, has completed his internship as of August 3rd, 2017.
Jessica Zakovec, part-time WIC clerk, will be filling in for the month of August for the
beach monitoring program. We have advertised for an LPN to fill the health screener
position at WIC two-days per week and will be pulling Tony Bondioli, Public Health
Nurse, to the Health Department four-days per week. Tony will be taking over many of
the wellness duties that were previously held by Pete Morrissette, Public Health
Educator, which will allow Pete to take on more Environmental Health responsibilities.
Update on plans for office coverage for Director Sara Wartman during maternity leave.
5. Discussion and Possible Action Regarding Resolution to Accept Safe Sharps and
Prescription Drug Collection Grant
Bayfield County Health Department was awarded funds through a Security Health Plan
grant in the amount of $12,000 to assist in expenses incurred in establishing three
permanent locations to drop off old or unused prescription drugs and sharps.
6. Discussion and Possible Action Regarding Resolution to Accept WIC Mini-Grant
Bayfield County Health Department was awarded funds through the Wisconsin
Department of Health Services in the amount of $2,320 for WIC clinic improvements.
7. Discussion and Possible Action Regarding Resolution to Accept Taking Action with
Data—Carbon MonoxLife Grant
Bayfield County Health Department was awarded funds through the Wisconsin
Environmental Public Health Tracking Program—Division of Public Health in the
amount of $10,000 for the purchase of carbon monoxide detectors, community education
and outreach.

10. Discussion and Possible Action Regarding Resolution to Approve 2017 Health
Department Budget Adjustments
This resolution is to amend the 2017 Health Department Budget due to increase/decreases
in grants.
11. Discussion on Community Recreation for Health, Capital Improvement Plan
Request for Budget 2018
Discussion and possible action surrounding capital improvement funds for 2018
supporting the infrastructure of local towns and municipalities in Bayfield County to
promote community health and wellbeing.
12. Discussion and Possible Action Regarding Strategic Work Plan
Health Departments are required by the state to do a Strategic Plan every five years
outlining what areas the Health Department will be targeting in the next five years.
Update on the progress of the strategic plan and development of a work plan for the next
five years.
13. WIC Update
Update on the upcoming projects to be completed using funds from the WIC mini-grant
as well as recent trainings for WIC personnel. Review of 2017 WIC project goals.
14. Radon Information Center Update
Update on discussions with other local health departments regarding possible creation of
a northern Radon Information Center (RIC).
15. Health Department and Grant Updates
Update on health department grants and grant applications. Information on recent HIPAA
all-staff training.
