Call to Order: The meeting was called to order by Chairman Lona at 10:10 am. The Committee was unable
to take any action due to a lack of quorum.
CLTS/CLTS wait list: There are 12 children on the CLTS wait list. All of them being served by another
program with the exception of one child. Two children are on the state Intensive Autism in home treatment
wait list. There are 43 children being served through CLTS, CLTS Intensive Autism, and Family Support
Programs, and 22 more through Birth to 3. All available funds have been allocated. Two new families are
applying for services next week for both FSP and CLTS.
Presentation-Youth in Transition: Jamie Mackin, the Disability Benefit Specialist for Bayfield County,
described his role. Jamie’s presentation included who he can represent; how Benefit Determination are made,
and at what age they can be made; the amount of Social Security individuals get when they are determined
disabled; and where the benefits come from. Lona suggested the ADRC share a “Fact Sheet For Schools” to
insure that youth transitioning into the adult long term care system have this information. She felt this
information should be readily accessible for children who are in the public school system or home schooled.
The information was well received.
Resources: Michele reported that Lifespan Respite is offering a training entitled: Coping with Challenging
Moments. The training is scheduled in Superior on Sept.17. The fee is $10.00. It is sponsored by Respite
Care Association of Wisconsin in conjunction with Easter Seals Disability Services.
Barb Gadbois shared information regarding Disability Advocacy Day to be held on Wednesday March 20, 2013.
There are Sparks Grants still available. Due to her participation on the Wisconsin Board for People with
Developmental Disabilities, Barb is a resource for parents and committee members who do not travel to
Madison, and allows them to be appraised of what is happening around the state in the area of disabilities.
Future meeting date: The next meeting is scheduled November 13th, 2012 at 10:00 at Our Saviors
Lutheran Church, in Iron River. Reminder e-mail messages will be issued.
