HomeMy WebLinkAboutChildren’s Community Options Program Advisory Committee - Minutes - 11/13/2012 FAMILY SUPPORT PROGRAM ADVISORY COMMITTEE MEETING 10:00am on 11/13/2012 at the Rustic Roost, Iron River Committee Members Present: Shellie Listing, Mary Lou Jahr, Barbara Gadbois, and Ann Glavan. Committee Members Absent: Renea Woerle (excused), and Lona Schmidt (excused). Staff Members Present: Michele Ochsner. Call to Order: The meeting was called to order by Barb in Chairman Lona’s absence. The meeting was relocated to the Rustic Roost because the church was being cleaned. 8/14/12 FSP Meeting Notes: Michele shared the notes from the August meeting. Ann made a motion to adopt the 8/14/12 FSPAC minutes, Shelli seconded, motion passed. Retirement: Michele informed the Advisory Committee that she was retiring as of Jan. 4th 2013, and would not have time to introduce the new Social Worker. Service Review: Michele reported that the Family Support Funding for 2012 had been over-allocated in an effort to make sure all of the Family Support dollars were used for families that qualified and were in need. A short waiting list has just been started as two new families are requesting assessments. Michele informed the committee of the movement of children on the Wait List to the Children’s Waiver Program, from the Family Support Program. Total number of children being served on the CLTS Waiver is sixteen. Interim CSS & FSP Manual Update: Michele updated the FSP Committee on the new interim Community Support Specialist, Sally Toepher, who is filling in for Steve Sullivan. She also indicated that the Advisory Committee should be seeing a new Family Support Manual online that is almost completed. They will be able to find the link online under the Medicaid Home and Community Based Manual. Other: Barb Gadbois, who is currently serving on the Statewide Governors Wisconsin Board for People with Developmental Disabilities, informed the Committee that two individuals from Bayfield County are signed up to be Partners in Policy. Participants in this project will receive training so they can work effectively with policymakers to create systems change and improve the lives of individuals with disabilities in Wisconsin. These two individuals are scheduled to attend for six weekends a month over a seven month period. It’s been a positive step for the Northern half of the state to have these folks representing the rural areas. Shellie Listing also shared her son’s acceptance into the University of WI-Stout, and their journey in his getting there. She is looking forward to his further success in college. Future meeting dates: February 12th, May 14th, August 13th, and November 12th, 2013. Adjournment: The meeting adjourned at 11:00 am.
