FAMILY SUPPORT PROGRAM ADVISORY COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES

Bayfield County Courthouse, Conference Room B
Tuesday, December 9, 2014 at 10:00 a.m.
Committee Members Present: Mary Lou Jahr, Shelli Listing, Lona Schmidt, Barbara
Gadbois, and Ann Glavan
Committee Members Absent: Renea Woerle.
Staff Present: Megan Collins and Denise Ruberg.
Others Present: Dan Gadbois.
Call to order: The meeting was called to order by Lona at 10:03 a.m.
Review/adoption of minutes from 09/09/2014 meeting: Ann made a motion to
approve the minutes; Mary Lou seconded; motion carried.
Update regarding Barb Gadbois/Term Limitations: The Bayfield County Board
approved Carrie Linder’s request to extend the policy/term limits for Barb.
Update on Wait List Report: Megan Collins and committee members reviewed the
Wait List Report. Megan went over updates to the report. Currently there are 14
children on the Wait List. The transition has been made in combining the CLTS and FSP
Wait Lists in PPS.
Topics for future Advisory Committee Meetings: Megan asked committee
members for suggestions on what topics they would like to cover in future meetings.
The following suggestions were made:
1. Getting resources out to the public.
2. How information is given out to the schools and then shared with families.
3. Ten to fifteen minutes of meeting time set aside to go over services that are
covered under CLTS.

4. Invite representatives of any new area programs to come to the meeting to
share information about their program and services they offer.
Barb asked if there were any support groups for parents with children who have
special needs. Megan said that she was not aware of any specific to special needs and
that she would talk to Liz Lexau, Family Living Agent, in the UW Extension Office to see
if Liz could attend a FSPAC meeting to discuss parenting classes that are offered
through her department. Ann asked if there was a way to channel information to the
schools about community services and Megan replied that the schools do get
information on community programs including those offered by the County such as
Family Support and CLTS. Lona stated that the Iron River Lions Club is starting a
program where they will build handicap ramps for individuals who are in need of one;
she also asked if the Bayfield County web site contained information on community
resources. Megan will look into this.
Next Meeting Scheduled: The next meeting will be held on March 10, 2015 at
10:00a.m. in Conference Room B.
Other (information items only): Megan mentioned that the Wait List requires less
paper work now that it is combined and in PPS.
Adjournment: The meeting adjourned at 10:30 a.m.
