Box 100 Washburn, WI 54891-0100 BAYFIELD COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF HUMAN SERVICES FAMILY SUPPORT PROGRAM ADVISORY COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES Bayfield County Courthouse, Conference Room B Tuesday, December 8, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. Committee Members Present: Shelli Listing, Barb Gadbois, Ann Glavan and Mary Lou Jahr Committee Members Absent – Excused: Lona Schmidt Committee Members Absent - Unexcused: Renea Woerle Others Present: Kristin Opperman, Nina Bucher, Liz Lexau, Denise Carlson and Misty Nordin Call to order: Barb Gadbois offered to act as stand in Chairperson for Lona Schmidt and the meeting was called to order at 10:05 a.m. Introductions: Introductions were made. Review/Adoption of 9/8/15 Minutes: A motion was made by Ann to approve the 9/8/15 FSPAC meeting minutes as presented, seconded by Mary Lou, motion carried. Changes to FSP: The Governor’s new budget includes changes to Human Services, and more specifically, will change FSP to Children’s Community Options Program (CCOP) as of 1/1/2016 (see handouts). With limited knowledge of details, the State is assuring people the program will generally remain the same, with two prohibited services: CCOP will not cover room and board or cover anyone over 22 years old. This will not affect Bayfield County’s families. The advisory committee will continue to exist, under a new name, in the new year but requirements for membership may change so Kristin will wait for details before soliciting applications for new members. Other information regarding the changes will be passed along as Kristin receives it. 2016 Meeting Dates: All agreed to continue to hold the meetings quarterly on the second Tuesday of the month at 10am at the Courthouse. This makes future meeting dates: 3/8/16, 6/14/16, 9/13/16, & 12/13/16. State Updates: Kristin explained to the group that the intensive autism services provided through the children’s waiver program would be transitioning to a Medicaid card service in 2016. This change should make it easier to access services and discussion followed that outreach was lacking, networking was needed, and the system can be daunting for children with disabilities. Barb left at 11:10am Other: Liz Lexau, Family Living Agent from the UW Extension office, was looking for feedback/brainstorming ideas on how to attract more people to the Family Support Facebook Support Group page she set up. She was impressed by the expertise in the room and would like to get more knowledgeable people posting/interacting on the page. Suggestions were made to talk to school districts, 4H groups, PTO groups, health clinics, early childhood groups, and school newspapers, and also post on Craig’s List. Liz feels the page needs about six core people to start the dialog so when potential followers look at the page, something interesting is happening. Another suggestion was to not be so serious and use humor to attract page members. Liz left the meeting at 11:15am Kristin added that there are currently ten people on the CLTS waiting list, one on the FSP waiting list, and that she feels there are hundreds of kids in our area that might not qualify for these programs, but could benefit from information on all programs and information on services available. Adjournment: Mary Lou adjourned the meeting at 11:27 a.m. Next meeting: March 8, 2016 at 10:00a.m. Minutes respectfully submitted by Nina Bucher, Support Staff
