CHILDREN’S COMMUNITY OPTIONS PROGRAM ADVISORY COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES
Bayfield County Courthouse, Conference Room B
Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at 10:00 a.m.
Committee Members Present: Shelli Listing, Sara Wartman, Mary Lou Jahr, Lona Schmidt, John Knight, Barb Gadbois
Committee Members Absent: Jaime Goodlet, Robyn Klobucher,
Community Members Present: Dan Gadbois
Staff Present: Kristin Opperman, Heather Gilbertson
Call to order: Lona called the meeting to order at 10:03 am.
Review/adoption of minutes from 06/12/2018 meeting:
• Review of Minutes
• A motion was made by Shelli to approve the June 12, 2018 meeting minutes, seconded by Mary Lou, motion
carried.
Children’s LTC Program Enrollment / Waiting List Elimination Initiative
• By years end Bayfield County’s caseload will contains approximately 30 kids in either the Waiver or CCOP
program or both
• September 2017 Bayfield County was notified by state to eliminate the waiting list by end of 2018. Bayfield
County has successfully done that. Since then 5 new children were added to the waitlist. Additional funding was
approved by state to help with the additional children added to the waitlist.
• 5 new clients added to the waiting list.
• 1 teen has transferred to Adult LTC.
Children & Youth w/Special Health Care Needs Program and the Northern Regional Center
• WI has 5 Regional Centers dedicated to Supporting Families with special health care needs and the providers who
serve them.
• See attached handouts
Review CCOP Advisory Committee manual
• Emphasis on Chain of command for payment of service.
• Refer to manual
Other (information items only):
• Fall is Conference Time
o Children come First – November
o Self Determination – October
o WI Facets from Madison would come to our area for one day conferences
• Lions Camp is highly recommended
• Flu season is upon us, any homebound person can call the Health Department and schedule a home visit for their
flu shot.
• A carseat program is being run out of our WIC Department.
• DOJ – Office of school safety offers 3 hour trauma informative care conferences and 2 day Mental Health & Threat
Assessments to help create more awareness on how to recognize and deal with Childhood Mental Health.
