HomeMy WebLinkAboutComprehensive Community Service Committee - Minutes - 12/8/2015New Horizons North Comprehensive Community Support Bayfield County Coordination Committee December 8, 2015 held at Bayfield County Human Services Department Bayfield Members Present: Linda Jorgenson, Julie Newago, Karlan Williams, Anita Haukaas, Nicole Gurnoe Bayfield Members Absent: Other: Valerie Levno, Rick Kallio, Gail Lemieux, Jennifer Dietrich, Megan Luger • At 3:10, Julie Newago calls the meeting to order. • Linda J motioned to accept the minutes as read from October 12, 2015 meeting; Anita seconded. All for, motioned passed. • There was no public or participant comments or input • At 3:15, Karlan W arrived • At 3:25, Jennifer Dietrich arrived • At 3:30, Gail Lemieux arrived • At 3:35, Rick Kallio arrived • The Committee discussed possibilities in recruiting more members for the Coordination Committee both on the County as well as the Regional Committee. o It is hopeful to recruit additional participants to bring the total participants on the Committee to 5. o The County would also like to find a representative for the 18 and Under age group by way of a young adult or parent of a child participant. o Julie N motioned to bring recruitment issues to Regional Committee; Linda J seconded. All for, motioned passed. • The Committee also discussed developing an informational packet for new recruits to explain the purpose of the Committee in regards to the success of the CCS Program. o Martha Scott from the Ashland Committee would offer assistance in developing the handout for new recruits. o Anita motioned to bring the packet content for new recruits to the Regional Committee; Julie N seconded. All for, motioned passed. • Anita motioned to accept the acceptance letter from Val Levno for the recommendations of the Committee; Julie N seconded. All for, motioned carried. • At the October 2015 meeting, a sub committee was formed to draft a letter to the State, requesting permission to dissolve the separate County Committees, and have just one Committee, which will serve both Counties. On October 28, 2015, Mark Hale, WI DQA, responded. Stating that our certification requires each County to be individually certified, which also means each County must have its own Coordination Committee. o With this decision, discuss occurred for finding ways to simplify meetings to fit the needs to each County as well as increase chance for member attendance. o Topics of the discussion included:  Meeting on a monthly basis for each County, and calling the Regional Committee to order every 3rd month.  Meeting on an every other monthly basis with Regional Committee meeting immediately after the County meetings.  Linda J motioned to continue scheduling meetings the same, on an every- other month basis, with the Regional Committee meeting afterwards. Julie N seconded. All for, motioned carried. • Jennifer Dietrich, Gail Lemieux, and Rick Kallio provided the Committee with information on the Peer Support service array. Information included what a peer specialist is, how a person becomes a peer specialist, ways this service helps individuals. An informational packet was provided to members for further explanation on this service offered to Participants. • Linda J motioned to adjourn the meeting; Julie N seconded.
