Comprehensive Community Service (CCS)
Coordination Committee Meeting
Conference Room – Ashland County – Downtown Building
June 11, 2019
Members Present: Karlan Williams, Cheryl Hanson, Andrew Austin
Members Excused: Linda Jorgenson, Nicole Gurnoe, Thomas Mittlestaedt

Call to order and Introductions
Williams called the meeting to order at 2:45 p.m. Introductions made.
Discussion and Possible Action: Review of the May 14, 2019 Meeting Minutes
CCS Program Transition Status Report – CCS Administrator Val Levno
Bayfield County has contracted with Lori Knapp Inc. and Headwaters Inc. Participants were
notified of the transition by service facilitator staff(s). Participants got a staff listing mailed to
them. Staff are acclimating to County environment, information access, policies, and other
logistics. Staff are busy meeting with and contacting CCS participants.
Outreach and marketing put on hold until contracts are in place and additional providers are
recruited. Requesting the current providers expand services.
Lori Knapp Inc. and Headwaters Inc. are currently trying to hire more service array staff.
Review Program Report
Program report reviewed. Explanation and discussion on current enrollment decline, future
recruitment, and marketing opportunities.
Children Services
Children’s services menu was discussed. The goal is to expand the number of providers and
services available to CCS youth. Parent Peer Specialists were discussed and how they could
fit into service options for CCS youth.
Motion by Hanson, seconded by Williams to approve May 14, 2019 minutes,
as presented. Motion passed unanimously.
Follow up from Participant Meeting – Handouts attached
Reviewed the handouts. Questions/Responses from CCS Participant meeting.
Discussion regarding better places to hold the meeting as Williams stated participants are
having mental distress about meeting in the EOC building. The question was raised if they
could hold the meetings in more “natural places”. All present agreed to hold the next
meeting at Bayfield Department of Human Services Conference Room A.
Discussion and Possible Action: Review and discuss joint agenda format
Discussion is being held until the next meeting as Mittlestaedt was interested in this and was
absent.
New Business
Levno stated that the brochures are in the process of being updated. Advertising is being put
on hold until we are running more smoothly.
Advertising will be put on the July agenda.

Other (Informational Items)
Nar-Anon meetings moved to NorthLakes in Iron River. It will be in their conference room
Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.
Discussion and Possible Action: Recommendations that should be forwarded to the
Regional Coordination Committee for Consideration
Douglas County will not be doing the CCS program due to cost at this time. They will not be
attending our regional meetings after our next regional meeting where they will give us a
more formal update.
