VII. Report from Director:
A. Trails:
Motiff was at the DNR grant meetings in Wausau. ATV projects approved totaled $99,332 and
snowmobile projects totaled $270,945.
The Privy on County land has been approved by the Forestry Department with the condition that the
local club does the maintenance on it and the Town and the Zoning Dept. approve the project as well.
The trail portion of the ARRA Valhalla project is almost completed.
B. Marketing :
Stephanie Klett, the Secretary of the Department of Tourism, has been in the area often. Motiff
believes that the Department will not hire a Northern Representative and is relying on the Secretary to
be the ambassador to the area.
Twenty-two travel writers were in the area in June. Motiff helped facilitate activities for them.
Notes from Chamber planning session facilitated by the Dept. of Tourism have been received and work
will begin now on development of a new marketing plan (this part of the report was given during Item 5).
The Visitor Guides are moving well. 64 cases were delivered to the courthouse recently to restock our
supply and another 64 cases were delivered to a firm for distribution in the rest of the state.
C. Administrative Updates:
As Motiff goes through employee reviews, the job descriptions should be updated.
