Call to Order: The meeting was called to order at 3:00 p.m. by Rondeau. II. Motion Regarding June 27, 2013 Meeting Minutes: Motion (Jardine, Bennett) to approve the minutes from the June 27, 2013 committee meeting. Motion Carried. III. Public Comment: None. IV. Discussion and Possible Action on the 2014 Budget: The 2014 proposed budget was discussed. The Clerk III position is scheduled to become half-time in mid-2014, decreasing the expenditures for wages. Motiff recommended adding in $1,080 into contractual services ($480 for Adobe Creative software and $600 for email program monthly fees). She also explained the $3,332 increase in expenditures and revenue for the Discover Wisconsin episode featuring the central and southern parts of the county. Mileage expenditures will be increased to reflect the new responsibilities of the office along with increasing the Sundry Items line item for event support. The visitor guide expenditures were also increased to reflect increasing costs in printing (this also includes printing the map). Motion (Jardine, Bennett) to approve the 2014 budget with the additional $1,080 and to send to the full county board. Discussion followed regarding visitor guide revenue, distribution and graphic design of both the visitor guide and snowmobile & ATV maps. Motion Carried 4-1. V. Director’s Report: A. Recent events:  Motiff is attending broadband/cell communications meetings once or twice a month. Broadband service and cell towers were discussed.  Met with MaryAnn Lippert, Governor Walker’s Northern Representative; toured area businesses including Karlyn’s Gallery, Blue Vista Farm, World Class Precision Products, the Northern Aquaculture Demonstration Facility and Legendary Waters Resort & Casino. B. Upcoming projects/events:  TrailCon in Antigo, August 9-10 – Cable Chamber interested in sharing a booth; Town of Drummond and County Forestry would like us to promote their campgrounds if we attend. The consensus of the Committee was to pay the $125 booth fee and have other area conference attendees man it.  Discover WI filming for next episode in Central/Southern Bayfield County; tentative dates are Sept. 19- 20 OR Sept. 30-Oct. 1  Working on new ATV map this fall; collecting changes/updates and sending ad solicitations for map and visitor guide.  Meeting with USFS and County Forestry Dept. on Aug. 1st  Prepared background information on branding for upcoming county board meeting K:\(T&R Committee)\2013\Meeting materials\07 25\07 25 13 meeting min.docx C. Current/upcoming promotions:  Travel writer visiting Aug. 2-3. Motiff arranged her lodging at Pilot House Inn.  Discover Wisconsin Passport to Adventure (http://www.discoverwisconsin.com/contests.aspx) radio segment airs August 5. Giveaway prize package includes:  2 night stay at Antique Garden Inn ($280 value)  $175 Dreamcatcher Sailing/Wolfsong gift certificate  $50 Stagenorth gift card  $40 Coco gift certificate  $75 Rittenhouse Inn gift card D. Ongoing marketing efforts:  2-county mini map (distributed at NGLVC) and 2-county bike map – meeting with Mary McPhetridge and Joe Groshek 7/31.  Scenic Byway (www.lakesuperiorbyway.org) – developing a byway map and marketing plan with Marketing Committee members Mary Nowakowski, David Eades and Dora Kling. E. Web statistics: It is interesting to note what pages people go to once they are on the site. F. Sales tax to date 2013 vs. 2012 The July figures are in and tax dollars are up $ 45,961 from last year VI. Adjournment: The meeting adjourned at 3:50 pm.
