BAYFIELD COUNTY FAIR COMMITTEE MEETING
Monday, November 30, 2015 – 5 p.m.
County Board Room,
Courthouse, Washburn, WI 54847
Minutes
1. Call To Order
The Chair, Dee Kittleson, called the meeting to order at 5:01 pm.
Members present: Marco Bichanich, Jim Crandall, Dee Kittleson & Rusty Williams
Members absent: Shawn Miller
Others Present: Mary Motiff, Director & Theresa LaChappelle, Administrative Assistant
2. Approval of Minutes from September 28, 2015 Fair Committee Meeting
(Bichanich, R Williams) Motion to approve the September 28, 2015 minutes as presented. Motion
Carried
3. Public Comment – No Public Comments
4. Report on District 2 Meeting
Photos from the District 2 meeting were included in the Committee Members’ packets. On the positive side,
there was a good turnout for the meeting, the door prizes were well appreciated and Thank You notes to the
door prize donors have gone out. The one negative item about the meeting was the building acoustics.
5. Discussion and Possible Action on 2016 Fair Planning
a. Dates
Spectrum Carnival has given a verbal commitment to Motiff for the dates of August 11 – 14, 2016.
b. Senior Admission Discount
Included in the Committee Members’ packets was a chart displaying what neighboring county fairs
charge for Senior Citizen discounts. Discussion
(R Williams, Bichanich,) Motion to create a new daily admission fee for Senior Citizens. The fee for
those individuals that are 65 and older will be $10 per day/each day. Bichanich-Yes, Crandall-No,
Kittleson-Yes, R Williams-Yes. Motion Carried
c. Entertainment
Discussion on Grandstand entertainment.
The consensus of the Committee is to go with Bull Riding and Mutton Bustin’ on Friday night, either
the same show or a similar stunt show as this year for Saturday night and Dirt Dash on Sunday.
d. Logistics – nothing to report
6. Discussion and Possible Action on Commercial Vendor Policy
The suggested Commercial Vendor Policy changes were included in the Committee members’ packets.
Discussion on the suggested policy changes.
(Crandall, Bichanich,) Motion to accept the suggested changes to the Commercial Vendor Policy.
Motion Carried.
7. Update on WI Association of Fairs Annual meeting
The Committee members discussed who among them would like to attend the meeting. Kittleson and Crandall
will attend on Monday and leave on Tuesday. R Williams will contact the Fair Office at a later date with his
decision. Bichanich will not attend.

8. Discussion and Possible Action on Policy for Use of FEMA Safe Room
Some of the points that were discussed regarding the use of the Safe Room included:
1) The building being available for use by groups, 2) Year round versus seasonal use; including snow plowing
the parking area and heating the building, 3) Clean-up after use, 4) Cleaning deposits, 5) Responsibility of
paying the electric and gas bills, 6) Reservation taking for the building and 7) Performance of general
maintenance duties.
(Crandall, Bichanich,) Motion to decline the responsibility for the rental, usage and care of the FEMA
Safe Room Building. Motion Carried.
9. Discussion and Possible Action on 2016 Capital Equipment Expenditure-Used Tractor
Information was presented to the Committee regarding two tractors that are available for sale in the area.
One is at Lulich Implement and the other is at Northland Lawn, Sport and Equipment. Discussion.
(Bichanich, R Williams) Motion to purchase the New Holland tractor (as presented in the information
packet) from Lulich Implement. Motion Carried.
10. Buildings and Grounds Update
LaChappelle has been working on the maintenance schedules for the FEMA Safe Room building.
11. Future Agenda Items and Next Meeting Date
The next meeting will be held on Monday, January 25, 2016 at 4 pm.
A future agenda item is a Veteran’s Special for the Fair.
12. Adjournment
The meeting adjourned at 6:15 pm.
