Call To Order Meeting called to order at 5:30 pm by the Chair, Jim Crandall. Members present: Jim Crandall, Dennis Pocernich, and Fred Strand Members Absent: Shawn Miller and Rusty Williams Others present: Mary Motiff, Tourism Director; Theresa LaChappelle, Fair Administrative Assistant; Scott Williams, Fairgrounds Caretaker, and Bob Janigo, Volunteer 2. Approval of Minutes from June 20, 2016 Meeting Motion (Strand, Pocernich) to approve the minutes of June 20, 2016 as presented. Motion Carried. 3. Public Comments Bob Janigo spoke regarding his progress on the Human Foosball court. Human Foosball is coming along. He also has contacted Walt Moss to bring his souped-up semi on Saturday and Sunday. 4. Tour of Buildings & Grounds Project Sites with Discussion and Possible Action a. Projects – A tour of the Fair Grounds ensued. i. Diamon Horse Barn - The upgrades on & in the Diamon Horse Barn were looked at. Barn fans were discussed. The consensus of the Committee is that the current fans should stay in the Diamon Horse Barn as well as adding the two additional fans to each end of the barns. Motion (Pocernich, Strand) to approve the purchase this year, of two-aisle fans-one for the Poultry/Rabbit Barn and one for the Beef Barn. Motion Carried. ii. Electrical – Buildings and electrical were toured at the Fair Grounds. Horse barns, camping areas and vendor areas need upgrades. Discussion on the need for a comprehensive plan for all of the electrical at the Fair Grounds. Motion (Strand, Pocernich) to approve having a consultant get an evaluation and price for a comprehensive electrical plan for the Fair Grounds. Motion Carried. 5. Discussion and Possible Action on 2017 Budget The proposed Capital Improvement Budget was discussed. The shower upgrade for $1,500 is to be added into the 2017 Capital Improvement Budget. The proposed concrete floor for the Sheep Barn is to be removed from the budget. The replacing of the Sheep Barn stalls is to be moved out of the Capital Improvement budget and be added into the Ag Star Grant line item. The internet lines for the safe room and beer garden should be moved into the 2017 budget. Add $1,000 for the Upgrade of masonry on Beef Barn. Bayfield County Fair Minutes – 7-25-16 Page 2 of 2 The consensus of the Committee is to have the improvements for the Safe Room improvements moved out of the Fair Capital Improvement Budget and to approve the Capital Improvement Budget. 6. Administrative Updates a. New Fair Secretary Jenna Galligan has been hired as the new part-time Fair Secretary. She will start on August 8th. b. Other i. Church Service Grace Baptist Church sent a letter requesting to hold a non-denominational church service on Sunday during the Fair. Discussion. Motion (Strand, Pocernich) to approve the Grace Baptist Church to hold their worship service on Sunday, August 14th, with the understanding that all attendees will need to have an admission wristband. Motion Carried. ii. Vendor Fees Discussion on whether Bayfield County Departments need to pay the vendor fee if they are offering educational information. Motion (Pocernich, Strand) to waive the vendor fee for Bayfield County Departments offering educational information to the public, with the understanding that those staffing the booths will need to have an admission wristband. Motion Carried. 7. Future Agenda Items and Next Meeting Date The next meeting was not scheduled. 8.
