Call To Order The meeting was called to order by the Chair, Jim Crandall. Members Present: Jim Crandall, Fred Strand, Rusty Williams Members Absent: Dennis Pocernich, Shawn Miller Others Present: Mary Motiff, Tourism Director; Scott Williams, Head Grounds Keeper; Ursula Garrison, Fair Clerk; Dawn Klobucher, 4H Market Sale; Avana Beeksma, Christine Beeksma, Grace Kreinbring, Sarah Kreinbring, Promise Kreinbring, Melissa Tonn, Brinley Tonn 2. Approval of Minutes from January 30, 2017 Meeting Motion (Strand, Williams) to approve the minutes of the January,30, 2017 meeting as presented. Motion Carried. 3. Public Comment – There was no public comment. 4. Discussion and Possible Action on 2017 Fair Planning a. 4-H Market Sale Request i. Campsite – Discussion regarding request for use of campsite. Motion (Williams,Strand) to allow use of the same Campsite as last year by Market Sale free of charge. Motion Carried. ii. 50/50 Raffle – Discussion regarding request to allow Market Sale to conduct a 50/50 raffle in the area near the show ring. Motion (Williams/Strand) to allow the Market Sale to conduct a 50/50 raffle as requested. Motion Carried. iii. Scale/Storage – Market Sale has purchased a scale and would like to be able to store it at the fairgrounds until it can be installed permanently. Motion (Strand/Williams) to allow storage of scale at fairgrounds. Motion Carried. iv. Water Pressure - A comment was made regarding the need for better water pressure when everyone is washing their animals prior to judging. This is an ongoing issue that will be looked at further. b. Horse Show Format i. Discussion regarding request for a separate judge for 4H Horse Project and CEZRA open shows. Motion (Williams/Strand) to hire a separate 4H judge for the 4H Horse Project and CEZRA open shows starting in 2018. Motion Carried. Bayfield County Fair Minutes – 04/26/17 Page 2 of 2 5. Discussion of Potential Horse Stall Rental Fee Discussion regarding the possibility of charging a stall rental fee for use of stalls during events. The Committee does not recommend any action at this time. 6. Update from the Director a. Staffing Ursula Garrison has been hired to be the Fair Coordinator. b. Buildings and Grounds Projects i. Wireless Internet – Norvado has invested $4,200 in equipment and access points. There are still areas that are missing coverage in the northwest access areas and the grandstand areas. It will be more cost effective to pay for the additional access points ($1500) than to put down fiber. Crandall would like to see a proposal of the cost for service all summer at the office and on the south side. Need to explore possibility of Emergency Management Systems paying for access to the saferoom. c. Other Administrative Items – No other administrative items. 7. Future Agenda Items and Next Meeting  Naming Rights Policy  Paying for extra Wi-Fi equipment  Unreserved use of Horse Arena safety concerns and need for policy  Event Sprout - pre-sales & day of the event 8.
