BAYFIELD COUNTY FAIR COMMITTEE MEETING
February 27, 2018 – 4:30 p.m.
EOC Room
Courthouse Annex – 117 E. 6th Street
Washburn, Wisconsin
MINUTES
1. Call To Order
The meeting was called to order by the Chair, James Crandall at 4:30 PM.
Members Present: James Crandall, Fred Strand, Dennis Pocernich, Shawn Miller, Tom Snilsberg
Others Present: Mary Motiff, Tourism Director; Ursula Garrison, Fair Coordinator, David Zepczyk,
Kathryn Tietze.
2. Approval of Minutes from January 30, 2018 Meeting.
Motion (Strand/Pocernich) to approve the minutes of the January 30, 2018 meeting as
presented. Motion Carried.
3. Public Comment – A new member of the community attended the meeting, Strand gave a brief
overview on the fair and its impact on the community.
4. Review of 2018 Capital Projects – The approved Capital Improvement Budget was discussed.
a. Electrical Upgrade - Crandall went over a Phase 1 summary of the electrical improvement
project and a brief overview of Phase 2.
b. Maintenance Building – Discussion followed on repairs to the maintenance building. No
motion required as repairs are already in budget.
Motion (Pocernich/Miller) to request bids on Phase 1 & Phase 2 of electrical upgrade project. Motion
Carried.
Motion (Strand/Miller) to upgrade service to 50 amps. Motion Carried.
5. Discussion and Possible Action on 2018 Fair Planning
Motiff spoke about a commercial vendor, Runamuk Rides interest in leasing the fairgrounds to do
Winter Storage. Discussion followed. Committee consensus to explore idea.
6. Future Agenda Items and Next Meeting Date
The next meeting is scheduled for Monday, April 24, 2018.
7. Adjournment
The meeting was adjourned at 5:40 PM
