BAYFIELD COUNTY HIGHWAY COMMITTEE
5:00 PM July 2, 2019
Bayfield County Highway Department, Washburn WI
Members Present: Harold Maki, Jeremy Oswald, Larry Fickbohm, and Marty Milanowski
Others Present: Paul Johanik, Highway Commissioner, Cheri Deragon, Bookkeeper, Tom Kovachevich, Joni
Gierczic, Jim Bender, Jim & Lorraine Daclon, Randy Sharbonno, Amy Wangensteen, Eddie Wangensteen, Dan
Zak, Rod Abbas and Dan Stephans.
Meeting was called to order at 5:00 p.m. by Vice-Chairman Maki.
The next meeting is scheduled for August 7, 2019.
Motion by Milanowski / Fickbohm and carried to approve the minutes of the June 5, 2019 meeting.
Motion by Fickbohm / Milanowski and carried to approve CTH M road closure for Fall Fest – September 27 & 28,
2019.
Motion by Maki / Oswald and carried to approve ATV Routes on CTH H for McCarry Lake to McCarry Lake and
Buskey Bay Drive to Wayside Road.
Motion by Milanowski / Fickbohm and carried to approve ATV Routes for all of CTH J & CTH I.
Motion by Oswald / Milanowski and carried to approve ATV Route for CTH D for USH 63 to Camp 8.
Motion by Oswald / Milanowski and carried to approve ATV Route for CTH C for Big Pine Trail to Siskiwit Lake
Road.
Motion by Fickbohm / Milanowski and carried to approve driveway application for Joni Gierczic on CTH C with the
condition of the County Highway Commissioner’s recommendations and stipulations.
Vouchers were audited. A motion by Milanowski / Fickbohm and carried to approve the vouchers as presented
totaling $996,717.64.
Discussion on financial reports.
Commissioner Reports:
A.CTH M FLAP – STIP – 2021 Interviewed 3 consultants. Cooper Engineering to do both projects.
B.CTH N – Pigeon Lake – west end was raised 3.5’ this year. Last year east end was raised 2.5’.
C.CTH A – Hauling gravel week of July 1. Week of July 15 Crooked Lake plant set. Culverts are in and
done – 5 liners. Blacktop to be complete the end of July.
D.Permit not back from state for Washburn garage roof.
Committee input on shouldering Highland Rd in August, Fish Hatchery Rd has no shoulder, Office Manager
position.
