HomeMy WebLinkAboutLand Conservation Committee - Minutes - 6/5/2009 BAYFIELD COUNTY LAND CONSERVATION COMMITTEE MINUTES June 5, 2009 Present: David Good, Chairperson; Jim Beeksma, Vice-Chair; Marco Bichanich; Bucky Jardine; Peter Tetzner Absent: Loretta Skaj Staff: Butch Lobermeier, Ben Dufford, Stefania Strzalkowska, Darienne McNamara, Dave Schultz; Jennifer Schierman and Amanda Seely Advisors: Gary Haughn Attendance: Mark A-A, Cnty Admin.(9:00 – 9:55) 18. Called to order by: David Good, Chairman at 9:00 am 19. Introduce COLIP Intern: Amanda Seely began her internship on June 1st. She recently completed her junior year at Northland College and is studying natural resources and biology. 20. Minutes from March 13, 2009 LCC meeting accepted as presented: Motion to approve March 13, 2009 minutes by Jardine / Beeksma - carried. 21. Public Comment – MAA: Thanked the LWCD for working on the County rain garden. This project allowed the County to apply with the City of Washburn for storm-water credit. 22. Agency Staff / Partners Reports – GH: Reported that EQUIP had a great sign-up this year with 8 applicants. Unfortunately, only able to fund the 1st two applicants. Fencing rules have changed which forces all fencing into 1 (one) year contracts/projects. This makes the cost increase dramatically. CREP is going very well. 23. Wildlife Damage Program a) Dave Shultz, Activity Report – Report on file. Also funding for the next two years will allow an increase in deductible from $250 to $500 (2010). 24. Land and Water Resource Management Plan Update – BL: Reported we were notified that we did not get the $3,000 coastal management grant applied for. Therefore, the plan will be done “in- house”. 25. Conservation Observance Day – Farmer of the Year (June 25-26, 2009) BL: reminding all about this upcoming event being held in Douglas County. BC LWCD will attend/help with this event in whatever capacity necessary. 26. 2010 Expectations for the Non-Point and Local Conservation Programming – BL: Bayfield County asks that the Joint Finance Committee restore the latest cuts through a one-time lapse in the SEG appropriation for Nutrient Magament cost sharing. Motion authorize a letter be sent to the entire Joint Finance Committee by Bichanich/ Jardine – carried. 27. Status Report: Lake Superior CREP – Darienne McNamara – Report on file 28.
