HomeMy WebLinkAboutLand Conservation Committee - Minutes - 8/7/2009 BAYFIELD COUNTY LAND CONSERVATION COMMITTEE MINUTES August 7, 2009 Present: David Good, Chairperson; Jim Beeksma, Vice-Chair; Marco Bichanich; Bucky Jardine; Peter Tetzner Staff: Butch Lobermeier, Al Sagert, Dave Schultz; Jennifer Schierman and Amanda Seely Advisors: Gary Haughn Absent: Ben Dufford, Stefania Strzalkowska, Loretta Skaj Attendance: None 32. Called to order by: David Good, Chairman at 9:04 am 33. Introduced CREP Technician: Alex Sagert 34. Minutes from June 5, 2009 LCC meeting accepted as presented: Motion to approve June 5, 2009 minutes by Bichanich / Jardine - carried. 35. Public Comment – None 36. Agency Staff / Partners Reports – GH: Reported that EQIP had a great sign-up this year with 8 applicants. Unfortunately, only able to fund the 1st two applicants. Fencing rules have changed which forces all fencing into 1 (one) year contracts/projects. This makes the cost increase dramatically. CREP is going very well. 37. Wildlife Damage Program a) Dave Schultz, Activity Report – Report on file. Dave also presented the 2010 WDA budget. It is also on file for review. Motion to approve 2010 WDA & Claims Program budget as presented by Beeksma / Bichanich - carried. 38. Status Report: Lake Superior CREP – Alex Sagert – Report on file. Al has been familiarizing himself with the program and workplace. He noted that applications need to be in soon in order to begin site prep. The 15 year contract begins in October. He plans to begin talking to partners early in 2010. 39. LWCD Staff Reports: a) Stefania Strzalkowska, AIS Coordinator – Report on file b) Jennifer Schierman, Office Manager – Report on file c) Ben Dufford, Technician – Report on file d) Butch Lobermeier, County Conservationist – Report on file. It was also mentioned that Zoning is willing to waive fees if landowner agrees to work with LWCD on both mitigation/restoration. Lake Nabagamon is interested in doing a whole lake project. Interested people are going to the Howling Wolf project to check it out. 40. 2010 Budget Proposal – The 2010 budget proposal was presented and reviewed with some discussion. Noting that the 3rd position is very important to the department. Motion to proceed with preliminary 2010 budget proposal as presented and bring forward to executive committee by Beeksma / Bichanich - carried. 41. Other business as authorized by law - None 42.
