The Bayfield County Forestry and Parks Committee will meet on Monday, February 13, 2023 at 6:00
p.m. in the County Board Room of the Courthouse in Washburn, Wisconsin. This meeting will be held
in-person.
The agenda for this meeting is as follows:
1. Call to Order.
2. Public Comment – Limited to 3 minutes per person.
3. Approval of the January 9th Meeting Minutes.
4. Presentation: Erika Lang, Landmark Conservancy. Partnering with Landmark Conservancy
regarding the potential transfer and management of land along the Lake Superior shoreline in the
Town of Bayfield. Discussion only.
5. Presentation: Ryan Frostman, South Shore Sand and Gravel. Proposing a potential land trade for
the purpose of business development/expansion in the Town of Iron River. Discussion only.
6. Wildlife Opening Maintenance Request: Eddie Shea, WDNR Wildlife Biologist. Discussion and
possible action regarding an annual request to maintain wildlife openings on county forest land.
7. Monthly Reports. Discussion of general activities, events, issues and accomplishments. Possible
action on the report(s) only.
a) Forestry (all updates):
a. Carbon Project.
b. Land Acquisition Project(s).
c. CFL Withdrawal/Encroachment in Town of Hughes.
d. Lake States Bat Habitat Conservation Plan.
e. Ashwabay SMA Timber Sale.

8. Access Permit Renewal Request. Jim Hartmon. Discuss and possible action regarding a request
to renew an access permit in the Town of Orienta.
9. Forest Carbon Offset Reserve Fund (FCOR). Discussion and possible action regarding the
FCOR.
10. Recreational Use Agreement. Bayfield Nordic, Inc. Discussion and possible action regarding a
rec use agreement with Bayfield Nordic to groom cross-country ski trails on the Siskiwit Falls
property in the Town of Bell.
11. Committee Members Discussion. Discussion regarding matters of the Forestry and Parks
Department.
12. Joseph LeBouton, DNR Representative, Comments.
