8. ATV Route – Discussion and possible action of opening ATV route along CTH A from USH 2 to Hoffren
Road as requested by the Town of Iron River, 1.8 miles.
9. ATV Route – Discussion and possible action of opening ATV route along CTH A from Hoffren Road to
Hesse Road as requested by the Town of Tripp, 7.8 miles.
10. County Bridge Aid – Discussion and possible action to amend the County Bridge Aid Policy. This would
allow the use of County Bridge Aid as the local share of the WisDOT Local Bridge program in accordance
with ACT 162.
11. County Bridge Aid – Discussion and possible action to approve 2025 funding for the Town of Cable to
replace a culvert along Spider Lake Fire Lane. Requested amount of funding is $2,969.99.
12. Equipment Purchases – Discussion and possible action to place orders for 2025 and 2026 snow plows
this year.
13. Commissioner’s Report
a. Bayfield County fleet adjustment due to changing winter maintenance practices.
b. Highway Department grant application status.
c. 2024 Projects
i. CTH E – This project will be let this month and will reconstruct CTH E from USH 63 to
Town Road 36, 4.0 miles. We anticipate bidding additional work on CTH E from CTH H
heading east after award of the first section of CTH E.
ii. CTH H – Bayfield County will be sending a crew to Burnette County to receive training on
the chip seal equipment this summer. Afterwards we will use this equipment and chip seal
CTH H from USH 2 in Iron River to Delta Drummond Road, 11.4 miles.
iii. CTH M – We anticipate being able to use county forces to complete another chip seal
project on CTH M from Dells Road to the county line, 3.15 miles.
iv. Bayfield Street Project – This project is scheduled to be wrapped up in November of this
year. The detour through the city is limited to 20 tons. The alternate detour is in CTH A in
Iron River to Port Wing proceeding to CTH 13 to access Washburn from the north. Many
exceptions have been granted but permits must still be obtained.
v. Grand View Garage – The Highway Department completed the demolition of the old
facility and the contractor is proceeding. They have poured the new foundation and are
working on backfilling next.
