o Iron River Congregate Meal participants would like to have another meal added to the
month. Novak stated there are enough funds in the budget to add a second meal and
cover the additional hours needed for an additional site manager. The committee will
vote on this at the next meeting.
o Outreach in the form of a pop-up meal site will be taking place at the Drummond Civic
Center on September 21, 2023. This pop-up site will include a presentation scam
prevention, as well as a discussion about eating for vitality.
o Wellness on Wheels: The Public Health Department has a new resource trailer that can
be used to complete health assessments, immunizations, and to distribute wellness
information. This resource will be present at the Sept 21, 2023 pop-up event and will be
visiting each meal site in October.
o Ann Marie Mackin-Aging and Disability Services Specialist is doing outreach during the
congregate meals and will be set up to help residents with aging-related resources and
to complete memory screens.
o Meal participation has been increasing at the Cornucopia and Time Out sites.
Home Delivered Meals
o Home Delivered Meal Drivers do much more than just deliver meals. They see
participants 4 days a week and notify Novak of any problems or changes the participant
may be having. Others in the HHS Department can be brought in to provide more
resources or additional help the participant may require. Often, the HDM driver is the
only personal contact a participant has during the day.
