Karl Martin noted that within the year a plan for smartphone usage and compensation will be determined. Kane has discussed the smartphone subject with the Bayfield County Administrator. Since Fischbach’s position is funded in part by the State, Ashland and Bayfield Counties, the Bayfield County Administrator wants to make sure that the funding for the smartphone and its plan are compensated for in part by all partners. Karl Martin, UW Cooperative Extension Dean & Director, stated that Greg Johl, UW-IT Coordinator, should be contacted to order the smartphone and to set up the plan which will include data, and that the State would pay for it. Coop Extension Reorganization Update & Discussion – Karl Martin, UW Cooperative Extension Dean & Director UW-Cooperative Extension Dean & Director Karl Martin gave an update on the nEXT Generation process. Dave Berard Berard has been named as the Northern Zone Assistant Dean. The eighteen Area Extension Directors are to be named very soon. Dean Karl Martin revealed that Mary Pardee, currently a CRD educator in Polk County, has been named as the area director for our area. She, as well as the other area directors, will start July 1, 2017. The Dean discussed some of the pricing structure to be used for counties. This will be based on services provided, not by the educator’s salary. A flat rate fee structure for different county Extension positions will be established. The decision has also been made to not to reduce base salaries for anyone already in the system, not just tenured employees. Tenured employees are guaranteed a position moving forward. In response to the question, “How will the structure affect the current Bayfield County UW-Extension employees?”, Dean Martin replied that all the tenured employees will maintain a position, although their positions may change depending on the budget. Untenured educators may have to reapply for their position, but the State is still working on that issue. They will work with the counties to make it possible to keep everyone. Consensus of the Committee is that Bayfield County UW-Extensions has a talented, passionate group of people who work here. The Committee wants to keep the educators here and have them expand on their programming. 7. Issues and Program Ideas Discussion There was no discussion. 8.
