Dear Committee Members:
Please be advised that the next Transportation Coordinating Committee Meeting will be held on
Wednesday, October 7, 2020 3:30pm – 5pm via Microsoft Teams.
Notice is hereby given, in the event the standing committee does not have a quorum, the County
Board Chair or Vice Chair may act as an ex officio member (County ordinance, Chapter 3, section 2-3-1
(c)).
Any person planning to attend who, because of a disability, requires special accommodations, should
contact the Department of Human Services at 715-373-6144, at least 24 hours before the scheduled
meeting time, so appropriate arrangements can be made.

Bayfield County Transportation Services
Public Transportation
Red Cliff Transit
Service Area: The Red Cliff Transit is a public transportation service offering rides to anyone
needing transportation within the Red Cliff/Bayfield area, including the BART bus stop.
Price: $1 to go anywhere
Hours:
Monday-Friday: 6:30 AM - 11:30 AM; 12:00 PM - 7:00 PM
Saturday: 8:30 AM - 11:30 AM 12:00 PM - 5:00 PM
Details: Handicap Accessible
Bay Area Rural Transit
Route 1 & 2
Service Area: These two buses run
from the Bad River Reservation
through Ashland, Washburn,
Bayfield, to the Red Cliff Reservation
and back. This service can also
provide transfers to and from Mellen,
Ashland City and the Blue Goose
buses; riders can also connect to Red
Cliff’s and Bad River’s transit systems.
Price: See table
Hours: Monday to Friday 6:45 AM -
6:30 PM at two hour intervals
Details: All BART buses are equipped
with wheelchair lifts. Riders needing
special help are encouraged to call
682-9664 within 24 hours of your trip so we may assist with your special needs.

Route 3 - Saturday
Service Area: The Route 3 bus runs on Saturdays and provides service from Ashland through
Washburn, Bayfield to Red Cliff. Transfers are available to and from the Red Cliff bus and the
Saturday Ashland City Bus, contact the dispatcher for details.

Hours: Saturday 9 AM - 5 PM
Details: All BART buses are equipped with wheelchair lifts. Riders needing special help are
encouraged to call 682-9664 within 24 hours of your trip so we may assist with.

Route 4 - Washburn Blue Goose
Service Area: The “Blue Goose” provides door-to-door
service around the Washburn Area. Usually a 15 minute
notice is all we need, but to avoid any scheduling
problems try to call 715-682-9664 as far in advance as
possible. Transfers to BART Route 1 & 2 are available.
Hours: Monday - Friday 8:45 AM to 4:15 PM
Price: See table
Details: The Blue Good and all BART buses are equipped
with wheelchair lifts. Riders needing special help are
encouraged to call 682-9664 within 24 hours of your trip so we may assist with your special
needs.

Namekagon Transit
A small bus operated by Namekagon Transit provides weekly service on Tuesdays from the
Barnes, Drummond and Cable communities to Hayward. Reservations are not required but are
helpful; there is a nominal fee charged for this service.

Iron River to Ashland Route
A mini-van provides group trips each Friday from the Iron River area to Ashland. Reservations
are required and there is a nominal fee charged for this service.
Transportation for Medicaid recipients:
As the state of Wisconsin’s non-emergency medical transportation (NEMT) manager, MTM, Inc.
arranges transportation for eligible Medicaid and BadgerCare Plus members throughout the
state to their covered preventative and life-sustaining medical appointments.

Private and Nonprofit Transportation Services
North Country Independent Living
Service Area: Provides transportation vouchers for people with disabilities who live in the
North Country’s eight-county region, in areas not served by public transportation and do not
have adequate access to transportation and have income at or below 200% of Federal Poverty
Level ($25,519 for an individual in 2020). Contact Transportation Coordinator Sunshine
Lemieux at 800-924-1220 V/TTY, Extension 124 or at sunshine@northcountryil.org.
Ashland Drives
Service Area: Ashland Drives will serve anywhere in Bayfield County and can go wherever
someone needs to go; rates will reflect the mileage.
Price: Rate per mile for outside of Ashland is $2.00 per mile. Recommendation is to call and
obtain a quote. Senior, military, and veteran discounts available.
Hours:
Sunday through Thursday 9am-midnight
Friday and Saturday 9am-2am
Details: Not sure if they are handicap accessible
Bay Mobility
Service Area: Door-to-door service serving Bayfield, Ashland, Iron and Douglas Counties.
Price: Call for rates (715-718-6688)
Details: We accommodate standard and electric wheelchairs as well as folks who are
independent with their mobility.
Pathways Transport
Service Area: Northwestern Wisconsin and Northeastern Minnesota. Our available pickup
points-of-origin are to or from Douglas, Bayfield, Ashland, Iron, and Sawyer Counties in Wisconsin.
Pickup points-of-origin in Minnesota are St. Louis or Carlton Counties. Drop-off points are anywhere
in the nation.
Price: Call for rates (715-682-9664)
Hours: Transit services are available on a demand response basis. Call 24 in advance of desired
reservation. Office hours are Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Details: All Pathways Transport vehicles are HSV inspected, handicapped-accessible,
commercially insured, and professionally equipped. In addition, our vehicles are
state-inspected and -certified for your safety and comfort.
Volunteer Driver Programs
Bayfield County (currently suspended)
Rides can be provided for non-emergency appointments to people over the age of 60 or disabled
individuals who have no other access to transportation. Prior authorization is required, and
there is a copayment charged for this service.
CORE Community Resources (currently suspended)
Service Area: We serve people over 55 in Washburn, Bayfield, Red Cliff, and Cornucopia.
Price: Free
Details: Call us at 715-779-3457 to schedule a ride. Our volunteers usually do not have handicap
accessible vehicles. Although this is currently suspended, we have volunteers who can run
errands and grocery shop for them.

3.Reduce barriers by utilizing the mobility manager to make people feel more comfortable
using the bus
4.Public education through organizations that work with people who are transportation
insecure
